I'm going through the feedback forms we gave middle-schoolers recently.
THe question was "what would have made *hands on science event* better?"

The answer (w/ proper spelling but atrocious handwriting)?

"having it involve galactic conquest.  Or maybe intergalactic  conquest.  Definately some star wars elements"

HA!  That is awesome.

My mom used to teach first grade.  I loved helping her grade papers - there was some priceless stuff in there.

ETA: I am *dying* to hear what gems come out of my kids' mouths, too.  It's one of the few things that makes me less sad about their growing up.
