petty judging

i judge people who say "tar jay" instead of "target."  not fooling anyone, and it's not shameful to shop there or any other discount retailer.  it doesn't make you look high falutin'; just that you care to look high falutin' while buying toilet paper and m&ms.

Why can't it just be target?

It's not like people say kamart?

But people also don't go to Kmart.

I judge people to call it "Tar-jay" too.

My grandma calls it "The Red Circle Boutique".  I think it's cute...because it's my grandma.

actually, i judge most people who use some nickname in an effort to be high falutin'.  "going to bucks" and other nonsense make me hate them.

What does it mean when idiots call Wal-Mart Wally World?  Wal-Mart was too fancy for them?  Whatever their reason, it makes me stabby.

zsa reminded me -- i also hate it when people say "mickey d's."

(caveat: my brother and sister refers to it as "that irish place" which i find hilarious and always will.)

But it's okay to say "Shop smart - shop S-Mart" every time you go to K-Mart, right?

We do. Our city still has a KMart. The nearest Wal-Mart is 30 - 45 minutes away at least.

<div>There is actually a real reason for that.  Sam Walton placed the head quarters for Walmart in some random town in Arkansas and the town got the nickname "Wally World" well that is what the locals started calling it, being that basically the entire town works for Walmart.  Walmart is a customer of the company my dad used to work for, so naturally I know way too much about Walmart.  haha</div>

Inside Target headquarters, their cafeteria/deli is called "Cafe Target", pronounced cafe tar-jay.

There was an official radio ad in the early 90's where two women were talking about "that new boutique down the street" with a reference to Tar-jay...
