Wedding Woes

:: jews ::

the inlaws are coming for a visit over easter weekend.  would it be weird if i made them some easter-themed things, or does that seem like "no hard feelings over killing our Lord and saviour, mmkay?"

  • I don't know, but I fully intend to drink in front of my ILs at the wedding next weekend.

    I think it depends on what you are going to make? I mean, y'all are a mixed faith couple and you do jewish stuff, so I think some things should be within reason.

    I have a tag on random shiva question.  On The Good Wife they were prepping for this by covering mirrors and such.  They showed someone ripping the breast pocket of a man's shirt.  Is that tv or some part of the ritual?
  • As others have said, it depends on what you're going to give them in regards to an Easter-theme.

    I have no family here, so last year I invited my IL's over for Easter dinner.

  • i forget the exact reasoning but those in mourning have a piece of torn cloth on them during shiva. maybe to show they are in pain, to differentiate themselves, i don't remeber exactly but yes it i a ritual.  some more reform jews will just wear a torn piece of fabric pinned to their shirt.
