Wedding at Tracy Castle??

Just wondering if anyone on here has used the Tracy Castle for the venue? We decided on this location but all the reviews are awful!! Its such a beautiful venue just curious how others experiences have been....I almost suspect the reviews being from disgruntled employee (s).

I have heard very TERRIBLE things about them........inlcuding from a friend of mine who attended a wedding there and from other vendors who have worked there also. I defintely would never reccommend it to a bride.......

Also....if you are still able to get out of it....If you are looking for a castle, you could try the Thornewood Castle in Lakewood.

I have heard much better things about them, but they don't offer an all inclusive package..

I didn't mean to reply to anyone's message, I was actually going online to write my own review about my experience when I came across your question. I definetly have to set the record straight!

I just had my wedding here at the Castle last month. It was more than we could have ever hoped for. Allison, thier wedding coordinator is amazing. She gave such great advice and assistance from beginning to end. Our wedding day was so relaxing  and enjoyable and our guests are still talking about how wonderful the staff and castle was.

I know the castle is under new management this year. I didn't trust any reviews online either and I certaintly wouldn't trust the one advertising for the Thornewood Castle. If you are looking for a place to experience the least amount of stress as possible and have the opportunity to work with wonderful staff who take a personal interest in your wedding, (Trust me, I know) then the Tracy Castle is a wonderful choice!

I'm new to the boards but wanted to post my experience with  TC for anyone who may search Tracy Castle here.

We were really hoping Tracy Castle would work for us. Impressed with the grounds (except the dance floor, I hated it, my fiance didn't care), but the experience of the tour was a bit offputting. We were supposed to meet with the coordinator, didn't find out 'til we got there he wasn't going to be there and instead the chef was going to show us around. She was nice and relatively well informed. I got to asking questions about cost, since she was quoting things differently than advertised. She went to build us an estimate, had trouble with the system, called in someone else (big, loud, burly man, I think it was Bart) to help. All of a sudden it turned into a used-car-sales pitch. The whole tone of the room changed, became very smarmy. He strongly urged us to just put down $1500 deposit and "we'll work out the contract later." Fiance had to get firm with the guy, so he left to go print out our estimate (allegedly) from his own computer, but never returned, shouted across the building that they'd have to email it to us later. That turned us off pretty quick. They said they'd email us the estimate that afternoon so we could look over it, but we never heard from them again.

If you do go with them, be careful, ask for everything in writing, and read everything before you sign it. I've heard good things and very bad things. We saw the tip of the "very bad" iceburg, I think, so I'd warn people away from them. There are plenty of other places just as lovely within a budget where you don't run the risk of bait and switch.
  • My personal experience when my step-daughter got married there.  They completely ruined her wedding!!  It's been a few years and she still cries over what they did to her.  I would have to write a book to cover all the stuff they messed up, did wrong and OVER CHARGED her for.  Plus the extra costs they charged for the INVISIBLE "extra guests" that weren't there.  Seriously unprofessional and unethical practices.  Service was horrible, there wasn't enough food for the guests, you weren't allowed to serve yourself as the food was "rationed" by the staff who served it, and so much more.  I can't even begin explain how horrible it was.  The grouds are definitely beautiful, but not worth the heartache of the experience.  They make it sound magical when you first meet with them.  Once you sign on the dotted line, beware! To andreanjared, do you work for Tracy Castle? Sure sounds like it.  Are you seriously telling people not to trust the reviews they read? The reviews that are posted from people with direct experience with these venues?  and not to trust Thornwood Castle. As far as Tracy Castle being under new management,.. Really?  The property is still owned by the same people.  No change in ownership... hmmm?  I think people should definitely take heed in those reviews instead of your comments.  Sounds to me like you're trying to put down the competition. I recently attended a wedding at Thornwood Castle and it was amazing! Yes, it was more expensive, but what a great experience.
