Wedding Woes

Shopping Alone?!

So I live a plane ride away from my closest friends and family. My best friend was going to come into town to visit and go wedding dress shopping with me, but her flight got cancelled at the last minute and now may not be able to come at all! :(

Should I keep the dress appointments I booked and go alone, or should I cancel for now and just reschedule them? (they're in a large city about two hours from my town). Help!

When is your wedding? I wouldn't want to go alone. Sales people are pushy. But that's me.

I dress shopped alone for the most part. Then when I had narrowed it down and my mom was in town, I brought her.

i agree with wz; the bridal shop entourage is overrated and it makes the staff crazy.  too many opinions and then the forcing of the bride to like a dress she hates, or hating the dress she likes, and tears followed by alcohol.

shop by yourself to get an idea of what you want.  if you want your friend to come, schedule a second visit.  hopefully the stores that have the dresses you like won't burn down in the interim.

Why not bring your fiance?  I'll bet he'll be a lot more fun than your friend anyway, plus he'll ooh and aah the most over how you look in everything.

I shopped mostly alone and bought my dress without input from anyone and never regretted it.  You want to buy something that makes you feel good rather than your mother/friend/1st grade teacher anyway.

I just a friendly gal looking for options.

Thanks guys for the input - I'm glad I'm not the only one considering going alone. The fiance idea is good too! Thank you again :)

<div>Kuus, you have one weird husband. The only person I like shopping with *less* than H is my mother. </div><div>
</div><div>OP, go by yourself. Once you've narrowed the field to just a few favorites, then you can bring in a *trusted* friend to help you choose if you're still completely undecided. </div>

He's not THAT weird.  Okay, he is, but since both of us hate shopping, we make a good shopping pair.

I dont mind shopping with my fiance - I think our shopping issues are similar, so he's usually helpful and we dont stress each other out. We'll see whether he goes or not. He's volunteered, so that's something...:)
