We arrived at the airport a bit early so we could go through the stricter security check in Pittsburgh’s airport. We put our suitcases through the x-ray machine and everyone’s suitcase cleared but Kelly’s. One of the women at the airport had to search Kelly’s bag. It ended up going off cause of the Advil that she had. The woman explained to us that the x- ray machine can not see through gel.
We went to Las Vegas with Kelly’s family (mom, dad, sister and grandma). While we were waiting at the gate we stopped at a Chinese restaurant called “Wok and Roll” and had sweet and sour chicken. We left Pittsburgh airport at 4:50 PM on July 19, 2003. We flew out on North West airlines flight number 1417 on the way to Detroit. From Pittsburgh to Detroit was only a 30 minute plane ride. We rode on a small plane which made a lot of noise. Kelly’s dad asked the flight attended for first time flying wings, since Bill had never flown before. We had an hour lay over in Detroit airport until we could continue with our trip. We departed from Detroit airport at 7:19 PM on flight number 1189. We boarded a larger plane; the ride from Detroit to Las Vegas was around 3 hours. As we were getting ready to land the in Las Vegas airport we could see outside the planes window all the lights of the town.
When we first got into Las Vegas on July 19, 2003, Bill and I were shock on how many lights there were and how beautiful it really was along with how hot it was too. Once we had gathered our luggage we rode a shuttle to the hotel we were staying at. We drove to the streets of Las Vegas in total shock.
We arrived at the hotel; we were staying at, Paris. The outside of the hotel there was 540 foot high Eiffel Tower replica that is half the size of the Eiffel Tower in France (it was still really big). There was a blue hot air balloon that had Paris written on it (the reason for the hot air balloon was that the first men who ever flew a hot air balloon were French). There was a two thirds replica of the Arc de Triomphe. When we walked into the hotel we entered a very large casino area of 83,000 square foot, there was 2,000 different slot machines and about a 100 table games. The ceiling was blue with clouds painted on it; it looked as if we were outside. Once we got through the casino we got into the lobby area where we checked in. It was a very elegant place with white walls and gold trimmings. There were large crystal chandeliers. In the Paris hotel there were real people who painted them selves all in gold and stood as statues. They stood very still and when they did move they moved as if they were a robot. They drew large crowds and people never knew if they were real or not. People took pictures with them and also gave them money. There was also a mime that mimicked random people in the crowd. There was an accordion player along with people who sang along with the music he played. There was also a magician who performed tricks in the hotel.
We got a big Eiffel tower drink with a non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri in it. One night we went to an Italian restaurant inside Paris. We both had gnocchi’s to eat and Kelly drank mountain dew while Bill had iced tea. One day we had desserts at the Creperie and an ice cream place called Lenotre. Kelly had a berry crepe with strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries on it. Bill had vanilla ice cream. On the last day we ate at a French breakfast place. Kelly had a Belgian waffle with strawberries with white milk to drink. Bill had bacon and toast with chocolate milk to drink.
When we went up into the room there were two queen size beds with gold comforters. There was a large picture window that looked out on the town and we had a wonderful view of everything. Across the street at Belagio hotel they had a water fountain that light up and played music every 15 minutes of the night hours. We were a little tired from the plane ride so we waited around and freshen up and then walked the streets to see the sites. Even though we were under age we still got the chance to play on the slot machines that was a fun for a while. Once we finished playing with slot machines we went out to dinner at restaurant in the Barbary Coast Hotel called the Victoria Room. We both drank a lot of Mountain Dew and we eat chicken fingers and French fries. Then we went back to the hotel to go to sleep.
We went site seeing and looked at a bunch of different hotels and their casinos. All of the casinos were very large with many tables and slot machines. All the casino had there different features, there were different store and restaurants and different exhibits also. Paris and Bally’s connected and we often pass through Bally’s casino. Outside of Bally’s there was a light tunnel that changed from Green, Red and Blue. Inside Bally’s we ate breakfast at a Java coffee shop. We had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast there each time. One night we ate at the sidewalk café inside Bally’s. There we saw Jesse Jackson eating dinner. Kelly had French onion soup and chicken fingers for dinner and Bill had a chicken sandwich with fries. The Aladdin had tall Arabian looking buildings. The Flamingo hotel was very pink and had lots of bring lights in the form of flamingos.
Caesars hotel was set with an ancient roman theme.
The Caesars hotel it had many statues of ancient roman Gods. Like Paris it had a ceiling that looks like the sky outside.
It was the home of Celine Dion they built her own column there and she also had her own store there and bulletin boards all around about here. When we were there we eat at the Cheesecake Factory, Bill ate a vanilla Bean cheesecake and Kelly ate strawberry cheesecake. While we were sitting down eating out cheesecake there was a show about Atlantis and Neptune. The ceiling became a movie screen and they showed stuff on them with lights flashing around the room and the water fountain going too.
We went to a 3d show call Race for Atlantis. We put on goggles and sat down in a car that move us around to what was going on the screen.
In the Caesars mall we went to a booth and had both of the meanings of our name printed out together.
The Luxor hotel and casino had an ancient Egyptian theme to it. We had our pictures taken with King tut and also with two large camels. We didn’t spend much time in this casino since we had to get back to our hotel to catch a bus to tour the downtown area that night.
One night we went to the Treasure Island hotel and casino. We saw Willie Nelson entering a bar there. We ate at a buffet there also. There were many different types of foods and deserts there. Kelly and bill both had fruit and pizza. Bill went back up for more pizza and Kelly got tacos. For desert we both had a very small piece of cheesecake since we were so full. We both had sprite and shared a big pitcher of it.
