Wedding Woes

I'm so happy I moved.

For many, many reasons.  But mostly for the gas savings.

When I lived with stbx, I would fill up on Sundays and again on Weds. nights or Thurs. a.m.s to do all of my weekly work/daycare/life commuting.  And that was the basics - no extra trips for fun activities on the weekends.  I was spending $5-600 in gas in a month, easy.

I filled up on Sunday afternoon after I ran my last errand.  It is Thursday and I am just now hitting half a tank.  A whole week on one tank is a MIRACLE!

Gas is insane, for sure. I guess I have a tiny tank, though - I keep hearing about people spending $90+ to fill up their cars, but a whole tank for me is like $50.

It does make me glad I got the more fuel-efficient minivan, for sure.

How is your divorce going, anyway? Is there just a mandatory waiting period before it's final?

i spend about $40 every 1-2 weeks to fill my car - depends on how much we take my car vs. his for weekend errands/dinners, etc

i try to comnbine a lot of travel ( stop on way home to shop, etc.) or find regualr places near my house that require minimal driving. (daycare/target/home depot/petsmart/half price books/restaurants/etc. all less than 2 miles from our house. )

A tank right now is around $75-80.  I get a discount for using my gas card, so sometimes I can get a tank as low as $60.

I really regret selling my Corolla given my present circumstances.  The Jeep is nice, but it's too much - car payment, gas, space, etc.

My friends who adopted the 2 girls from Russia just bought a "real" minivan (giant, lots of space, gas hog). They totally do not need a minivan.

I seriously don't know where they get their money. They have a giant house, are always taking trips, are always trading up their cars... Oh, and spent probably $100k or more over the last 5 years on various fertility treatments and an international adoption.  Ordinarily, I"d just assume they were living off of credit cards, but I really don't think they are. Their parents are still living, so no major inheritances.

Totally can't figure it out. Good thing it's none of my business, I guess.

We were talking gas with idiot SIL and BIL.  She uses $150 of gas a WEEK and hr uses clos to $100.   I said I'd be hard pressed to get $50 worth in my tank, even at $4/gal.  Neither could understand the 12 gallon tank concept.

They were laughing at us being squished in my Matrix, but it works for a weekend and costs a lot less to run then DH's 4Runner.

Gas would have to be $5/gal for me to spend $50 on a tank. Last time I filled up I spent almost $35, which was painful. And that lasts me doing city driving for a week to 10 days, I'd say.

I am  a little sad that I do so much surface street driving these days; I used to get 35mpg, and now it's somewhere between 25 and 30.

A tank for me is about $70-80. I filled up last Friday when I was in WPB (cheaper gas) and I'm just less than half a tank now.

H's gas is around $90/tank.  So for him to drive to work each day is about $15/day.
