Wedding Woes

my baby sister just called me to verify how my name is spelled

before she put it on the engraved mom's day gift.

I'm wondering how it is that she had much doubt on the spelling but...I'm amused.

I guess it's good that she asked, right?

I just found out one of my cousin's real name.

    Everyone calls him...squirrel. Yes, squirrel.

His real name is Oscar Earl. Say it fast, and there ya go.

Y'all my mom has some country cousins.

this is just my first name...but she always calls me by the dimmunitive so she wanted to verify.
But, still, considering that the REST of my family only ever ever EVER calls me the full name (and that's what's on everything written down), it's extra funny.

But, i do hear ya on some of that--I don't know my mom's birthday.  Or, I do, but my sistes and I all SWEAR that we were told a differnt day growing up.

My grandmothe was told her name was Mary something - Mary Margaret I believe by my great -grandmother (who could really be a piece of work) . This occurred about the time my grandmother was probably 8 or 10 years old and had told my great grandmother how much liked the the name Mary Esther and wished that was her name. t  When my grandparents went to get their marriage license they had to have birth certificates. My great grandmother coldn't find it. So grandma got a new one - and was very surprised to learn her name was originally Mary Esther and that when she was about 8 or 10 my great grandmother had it changd to... Mary Margaret.     So my grandmother, as a child, tells her mother she wishes her name was Mary Esther.  My lovely great grandmother dashes to the court house and has her name changed FROM May Esther to Mary Margaret.   My Grandma had it changed back to Mary Esther.

What kind of mom does something weird like that.

My FI doesn't get so much of how to spell his name, but is always asked if it short for something because it's only 2 letters.  But the real kicker is that he had to fight the with the mortgage company because their computer system requires a 3 letter first name and a middle initial; his first name is only 2 letters and he has no middle name.

NOLA, my mom has cousins like that.  She didn't know any of their real names until I was in high school because their father nicknamed them at birth.
