Favors

I'm really trying to decided what to have as a favor, if any. What I would love to do is caramel apples, it would go so great with our oct wedding. So here's the deal, my FI isn't crazy about the idea. I'm not sure why because whenever I ask him he doesn't even really know why. =)
So anyway, what do you all think? Cute, stupid, tacky? Have you ever been to a wedding that had caramel apples as the favors? Any other ideas? Thanks!

My only worry is that caramel apples can be MESSY.  Really really messy.  Also, if there are going to be kids, you know there's going to be a caramel apple sword fight.  Or a drunken college friend sword fight.  At least there would be with my group of friends hahahaha.
Paprika: I like it when you burp in my ear. It really turns me on.

I think it's really cute and definitely goes with your theme!

That said, I have only ever taken one wedding favor home with me, so I think they're a bit of a waste.

It is really cute, but I'm with RA on this one. When you said Caramel apples, the first thing I thought of was having a sword fight. :)

What about the caramel apple lolipops? They're pretty tasty, and you could have some kind of pun on 'sucker' on a tag. Like, 'suckers for love' or something as equally fun. :) They'll be more economically friendly, and I know I'd take that home to eat it...

Paprika, cute idea with the caramel apple lollipops! Where would I find a good recipe for those?

Also it never once crossed my mind about sword fights and that would so happen with our group of friends, even if they weren't drunk yet! haha!! So, thank you for planting that seed in my head, I might be rethinking the apples!

i LOVE the caramel apple idea.  maybe you can have them "to go" on the way out of the venue, instead of at the table.  that way they just take the mess home with them!

flyersgirl, you should be able to get them through oriental trading really cheap. That way, you don't have to make them. It'll be more expensive to make than to buy.

I have talked to people who did the caramel apples, and by the time you buy the apples, the sticks, the caramel, and then the time and refrigerator space it takes... Sometimes it's easier to do something smaller.

Oh and I didn't notice any fights or anything with them- they did more with the pumpkins (carving in the middle of dinner....)

hi- I love the idea and have been to a wedding where it was the favor. The bride got them from a candy store in Atlantic City and they were delicious and went well with her theme (she also had pumpkins on the tables)

I think it is cute and would offer it on the way out so if people want to play with it that is on their own time. I would suggest buying them made already. I saw an episode of Bridezilla once where the girl was trying to put them together and it was a disaster!

What about little jars of apple butter? Pumpkin or apple pie in a jar? If you google pie in a jar I have seen people do them cute.

Love that idea amd agree with pp that they should be "to go" as your guests leave the reception.

food favors are definitely the way to go - I second the idea about little apple butters or the pies in the jar. Along pie/fall idea too you could do little bite size pumpkin pies in the mini muffin tins and give two or three in cellophane bags
