Honest opinies

If you went to a wedding and Native American flute music played throughout the ceremony, would you be WTFing it?

    Is the B and/or G Native American?

Possibly. I want to say that it would depend on the couple.

The majority of our friends are mixed Jewish/Catholic couples, so it might be a bit random to hear that at one of their weddings, and I'd be WTFing that.

But if it fit with the couple, I think it would be nice.

It's okay, I think flutes would be nice at your wedding.  Just don't have drummers, k?

I don't think so. Maybe the brides grandmother was NA for all I know.

Yeeeeeah, I'm not really so much into the idea of borrowing aspects of other cultures than your own for a wedding.  Just NMS.  FI's whole family is Irish, and I still got a little leery putting any Irish customs into our wedding ceremony, because of what other people might say.  I don't think I could ever use customs or music from a culture other than my own or my FI's.

:O why not? (PS, I could probably have drums if I wanted, there are people invited who lead drummings.)

FTR, officiant is NA, and uses NA practices in her ceremony

She suggested flutes, I had no particular ideas, except nothing with words, so I'm leaning toward flutes.

I think it depends on the culture of the B&G, and the setting for the wedding - outdoor wedding with a NA B and/or G would probably not be out of place.

True, but you can only sample 30 seconds of the song, so I want to be sure before I spend my $$ on it.

    Why not?
We used Pachelbel's Cannon in D, and we're not German.  We used some Lennon/McCartney songs, too, but we're not British or born in the 60s.
Use what you like, what you think is pretty, what fits your personalities.

BC, I still don't have a job to do when I crash your wedding.  Can I dress up and pretend to play the flute while the music plays on the ipod in my pocket?  I promise to keep the skipping amongst the guests to a minimum.

I think it could be very nice if done right (^^not like this^^).

Zsa, only if you play it like Will Ferrell in Anchorman. Otherwise I can give you a triangle to play. Would that work?

I can do either.  Just give my number to your musician's coordinator.
