I really hate it when people don't pronounce words correctly, but I REALLY hate it when news anchors are the offenders.

Our local news has an on-site reporter that pronounces "ing" as "een".  I'm in a mood already and I was so irritated I was *thisclose* to calling and complaining.  FFS.

I did calm down and I didn't call.  But man was I hot about it.

    I want to know when we decided to change pronunciations on things. All of a sudden, everyone's "afFLUent" and "inFLUenced" and "inTEGral".

    ? WTF is this nonsense? It's nails on a chalkboard, every time. 

    And don't even get me started on the misuse of "impact".

    Stephanie Abrams is a serial mispronouncer. I leave the house already at my annoyance tolerance limit when I watch her. Plus, she acts like disasters are fun and exciting, rather than devastating.
