Wedding Woes

So I thought

gestational diabeetis was okay. I mean, I changed my diet some and my sugar levels have been pretty good.

The last week though they have been fuuucked up. So yesterday the doc says "yeah, I'm thinking maybe you were diabetic before you were pregnant because it's too early in the pregnancy for the placenta to be affecting you this way"

Say what?

And then she's like "and we want to do some labs to check on that and do a 24 hour urine study to check the protein levels because it's looking like you may develop preeclampsia and we need to know that soon so that it doesn't become eclampsia."

Huh?

So before my appt next month I have to collect all of my urine in a jug for 24 hours.

I was like "hold on. you want me to carry a jug full of pee around my office and keep it in the fridge?" Then she suggested that I just make a Monday appointment. Adurrrrrrr.

So yeah, the occasional dessert is no more since my blood sugar is jacked up (it was 105 this AM and I had dinner at 7pm) and possible preeclampsia. Good times.

At least we get another u/s to check growth next time. IDK if that's routine or if it's because of the beetis and I might have a giant baby.

I'm so sorry.  AuntFlo went through a lot with diabetes.  She might be a source for you.

I know my doc wanted under 100 in the morning so 105 isn't HORRID.  I hope the next tests come back okay.

May I suggest you do what I did and just have one serving of starch per day.  I was pretty much all meat and veggies and it kept my suger withing normal limits through out my pregnancy.

FYI STAY AWAY FROM RAISIN BRAN, THAT WILL JACK YOUR SHEET UP.

Busy might be onto something. It sucks, but it's do-able. Esp if it keeps the diabeetus from creeping up. You do not want to turn into Wilford Brumley.

Candi, I filled my jug the a.m. I had to turn it in, but still had 4 hours to go.  So I waddled my pee to the hospital only for them to say, "Here's Jug #2 and bring both with you at 11am."  Damn it.  Nothing more dignified than hauling your pee in and out of the hospital.

    Man!  What a crappy deal.

I hope everything turns out alright for you.  You know, besides the whole peeing in a jug thing.

Also, do you pee directly into the jug, or a cup and then pour?

I bought a spouted bowl (b/c a cup isn't enough to hold it all) and poured that into the jug.  I threw the bowl away.

i'm DYING at the thought of a milk jug of pee.

seriously though, i hope they figure out what's wrong, so you have an uneventful rest of your pregnancy.

I am so sorry. Dr. HS was insisting that GD could set in the minute the sperm meets the egg but I KNEW that couldn't be right.

I hope everything goes well. I have to go back today for another test for the regular ol' diabetes. I don't even have a fetus to blame for my jacked up bizness.

I got this thing that fits on the toilet to collect the pee and then pour it into the jug. I think i'm getting a cheap cooler to keep it in the bathroom. I really dont want pee all up near my FOOD.
