Wedding Woes

On a scale of 1-10 I know this is a zero

It's got me annoyed yesterday.  I asked DH to help clean out the kid rooms to paint.  He took nothing out of the rooms, but did patch some holes.  In the process of hauling stuff to the basement I found 3 cases of beer with 1-2 beers in them.  I condensed that crap then found another box with 1 bottle in it.

Yesterday I was putzing around in the garage throwing trash away and came across the cargo cover for the 4Runner.  The one we sold in May.  I put it in the trash.  That thing is back in our garage because he's going to do something with it.  Just like he's going to do something with the garage door opener that's been in the box for over a year.

Why can't he purge anything?!?!?!  Oh and there was an empty shoe box in the closet.  For shoes that are 6 months old.

  • You need to just start dismantling things and throwing them.  NINJA style.

  • DH is also a packrat and we have this argument every flippin' time.  I don't understand the mentality that goes behind keeping something.  Just admit that you're not going to do anything with it and get rid of it.  It's this weird guilt mentality I think.

Our compromise is that if he hasn't touched it in 2 years, it goes.  I cannot tell you how unhappy this compromise makes both of us, so it must be a solid one.  ;)

He has gotten somewhat better over the years.  I just standfastly ignore his desk.
  • My husband is this way, too.    It's like they are scared of the trash can.
  • My husband is this way too. It doesn't help that he hobby hops. Half of our house, and both storage sheds, are dedicated to his hobbies. So I arrange for us to watch Hoarders, then purge. It seems to motivate him.
