that my family is better than stbx's. When he took her to visit the ILs, it took her days to warm up to them. However, she saw MIL for a day a week prior to that visit. You'd think she'd be okay around MIL at least, but that was not the case.
Last night, we arrived around 12:30 a.m. - DD was half awake and cranky she was being removed from the car. I brought her in and Mom came and gave us a hug. DD said, "GRANDMA!!!" and immediately gave her a hug. DD last saw Mom 6 weeks ago.
This morning, we went to see Grammi (my grandmother), who DD hasn't seen in 6+ months. She was a little shy at first, but by the time we left, she gave Grammi a huge hug and said, "I love you Grammi!" She blew Grammi a kiss as we walked out. Totally made Grammi's day.
I do not expect such a reaction tomorrow when we see stbx's grandparents. HIs family is mostly cold, awkward people.
