Alterations - Slight Concern!

So I had my second fitting for alterations to my wedding dress tonight. She is a seamstress who works from home -- I am very confident in her skills but I have a slight concern. Her work studio is in her basement and is clean however she has a cat and the litter box is down there and has a noticable cat urine smell. I didn't notice this the first visit -- neither did my mom or my sister so I don't know if the lady needs to just switch the litter or what -- I don't know anything about cat ownership, but I'm worried my dress is going to stink after I get it back, especially considering she's doing pretty extensive work on my dress, so I'm not really keen on spending $300+ for alterations and getting a stinky dress. Is it rude of me to call her and describe my concern and say I expect the dress to be free of any odors when I receive it?

Re: Alterations - Slight Concern!

  • Coming from a cat owner its more then likely the litter box. If we dont clean ours out every couple days the bathroom begins to stink.

  • I wouldn't bring it up unless you notice it again on your next visit.  If you get it home and it smells then ask her for a cleaning fee.  I wouldn't bring it up before there was a problem but then again I hate unnecessary drama/confrontation.

  • That sounds gross, sorry. This is why we don't have cats, I cannot stand litter boxes! Ha! I know nothing about it- but I'd just go with what the PPs say.
