Wedding Woes

Drs Appt this AM

I'm not scheduled for my first official prenatal appointment until Tuesday of next week, which would put me at 6 weeks.

However, last night after the gym, I started to feel some cramping. Of course I freaked out, and googled the sht out of it. Bad move.

I called my doc, (which is luckily 2 mins away from my office) and they're squeezing me in at 11:15. Hopefully, everything is ok, and this is just normal pregnancy cramps due to hormones, uterus stretching, etc.

Or maybe I strained something at the gym. When I told that to the nurse, she said, "You're still working out?!". Am I not supposed to? I've been working out for years, and I'd like to continue it during pregnancy, even if I have had to turn down the intensity.

I know a woman who literally ran up to the birth of her child.  If you're not high risk, why stop?

That whole attitude from nurses/practitioners would cause me to change doctors.  Not like there really is that much luxury of change, but I would WANT to.

As long as you aren't doing some crazy high impact sht you should be fine.

I can't comment on the freaking out. Everytime I have spotting I lose my mind.

I've always read that you should keep working out, as long as you're not playing ice hockey or something.

I think you're right--cramping w/o spotting sounds like routine stretching, but I'm sure the doctor's visit will set your mind at ease.  I'm sending happy, healthy baby vibes!

That's what I'm thinking, OFace and Wz.

It's not like I'm starting a new routine. I do yoga 3-4 times per week, modifying as necessary, and then yesterday I did a spin class. I wore my monitor, kept my heart rate below 160 and paced myself. Granted, I hadn't done spin in a while, so I took it easy.

I don't see what the issue is. I love my gyno, but I think he might be a little old school for my taste.

I saw a lady walk/jog a marathon at 8 month pregnant.  Though she was probably really active throughout.

Best of luck!  In the future though, I've always heard you are supposed to keep your heartrate below 140 while pregnant.

you probably shouldn't do the spin class.  all the up and down on the bike seat is not good for your pelvic floor or the cervix.  that's why they say don't ride a bike or go horseback riding while pg.

but yoga, totally fine.  walking, swimming, etc, just fine.

and cramping, totally normal.  it will last about 5 weeks, and then taper off.
