Wedding Woes

Star Trek: The Exhibition

It. Was. AWESOME!

We missed the bulk of the night of special activities -  no trivia contest and no movie for us - but we did go through the exhibit and enjoyed it. Turns out H never really watched TNG. This explains a lot. ;)

Mostly it was costumes and props from the shows and movies. Some scripts, movie posters, videos from the makeup, costume, and special effects teams. Neat stuff. IDK what it is about, like, every costume every displayed anywhere, but those people are TINY!!  I might expect it for some of the women, but even Patrick Stewart's costume had like a 28" waist. Shatner was SHORT (not shocking).

They had Kirk's captain's chair, which you could sit in and get your picture taken. Also the full-scale recreation (I don't think it was the actual set) of the Enterprise-D bridge and the transporter bay from TOS - again, pictures in each.  I have not seen my pictures yet. The line to get your pictures was at least an hour long. Supposedly you can't get them online but you can go back anytime and get them at the exhibit. So I'm opting for a less busy time, since you don't have to pay to go back for that if you aren't re-touring the exhibit.

People-watching was interesting. There was certiainly a lot of nerdy conversation going on. Not hard-core, though. There were a few people wearing Vulcan ears. Several with t-shirts printed to look like starfleet uniforms. A couple with actual costumes like you might wear to a convention. One person fully decked out as Seven-of-Nine. (PSA: If you're going to wear super form-fitting Star Trek costumes, invest in some spanx, if only for added authenticity. This woman was plenty skinny enough, but far too lumpy to pull off Seven-of-Nine.)

Anyway, I highly recommend if you are even a mild Star Trek fan. According to Wikipedia, this is the last stop on the tour. My couch is available if anyone wants to make the trip. :)
