iPhone question

Do you use a cover?  Skin or hard case?  I need to HK it up.

I prefer the hard ones (HEE) to the plastic ones, because the plastic Paul Frank one I had pulled my hair out.

People speak very highly of the Otter Box covers.

BFF has a Kate Spade one that I like, because it isn't too big or klunky.

Right now I have a freebie cover from Sephora and it is worth what I paid for it. It has begun to crack, so I need to replace it.

Is this what you are looking for?

I use a bumper.  I really like apple's official iphone bumper, but Desmond chewed mine up, and I bougth a cheapie from Overstock.com for like $6.  I don't like it.

I'm really picky about it, though, so ymmv.  I really don't like the ones with giant cut-outs for the buttons (like this: http://ifrogz.com/product/IP4GLL).  I prefer the integrated volume buttons with a small cutout for the mute slider, like the official one.

I think I might want this one:

They get really dirty, though. My current one is light blue, and it's filthy. You could never see dirt on the black bumper I had. A friend has the official apple one in orange - also filthy.

I haven't gotten the screen protector film yet, but I probably should.

The otter box ones are awesome, but - to me, anyway - it kindof defeats the purpose of having a super slim phone, since the cover is ginormous.

That's also why I prefer a bumper vs. a cover/case - just less bulk overall.

    OK, last post...

This is the one I have and hate:

I thought I would like the way it only has small cutouts for the volume buttons, but the actual opening is too small for your finger to use. I pretty much have to poke it with my fingernail to get the button to depress. (It's the perfect size for Dexter's little fingers to get in there, though.)  Made me realize I need integrated buttons for that OR a full cut-out (which I also don't like, just aesthetically and protection-wise).

    OK. I'm done now. :)

Min - I don't care for animal prints.  I was thinking of something more sophisticated, like this:  http://cgi.ebay.com/AUTH-Hello-Kitty-iPhone-3G-Case-w-screen-protector-/220776770944?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item3367522d80

Thanks guys.  These are excellent points.  I don't want filthy or hair pully.

I feel the same way about the Otter Box, but if you are skeerd of dropping your phone, it is the case to have.

I have one that H found in a discount bin at Best Buy. I love it. It's a hard plastic but the bottom flips off so you can easily remove the phone from it.

zsa - I would use that cover. It is the old-school Kitty from back in my day.

<div>True. A friend with a toddler has it, though, and somehow the ports don't line up right, so he can't use the headphone/aux jack.  </div><div>
</div><div>Still, there are super buff ones out there like that. I thought I would have to go that route, since I basically needed to make mine toddler-proof. But so far, no horrible damage. Just one small scratch from a very innocent crayon-meets-retina-display incident.</div>

I had just a screen cover on it for awhile. Those take awhile to get used to because they polarize the picture a little bit or something, but it was fine. Once that started peeling off I got an otter box and really liked it. After awhile you stop noticing the extra bulk. But I took that off a couple months ago for no real reason and have used nothing ever since. Now that the phone is a year+ old I'm not as worried about shattering or scratching it I guess.

Ditton Min and DG on the Otter Box.  My sister has one and it has survived some chewing by the littlest Boston, but it is very bulky.  I have this one that I like - it is pretty durable, but easy to get on and off (dirty?)
