Stupid travel question

Can I pull up and curbside check my bags, then park, then go in and checkin?

Re: Stupid travel question

  • Hmmmm, I don't think you can leave your car running without you in it and you can't park there.  Might depend on how close curbside really is?  I'd bet there would be a line though and you couldn't let the car sit for that.

I'm going with no, but the pros should weigh in.
  • I'd go with no also, since you aren't allowed to park curbside unless you're dropping somebody off or picking somebody up.
  • Yeah, I figured there would be a fairly strict policy against it, but I can't find one.  And it seems all too convenient to hop out, toss my bags and go park at the far away cheap lot.

  • does the cheap lot have a shuttle?

they won't let you do it.

most of the airports i frequent are pretty strict with keelping traffic flowing through the unload/load zones.

you could park in short term, check and then move the car, or park in the cheap lot and take a shuttle.

    have a good trip!
  • Yeah, I'll either shuttle it (dread) or park in terminal long-term parking (less dread).

You'll have Toddlerleg with you, right?   I might be inclined to do what Barbie suggested.   Unless you're checking her car seat.

    Have a wonderful time!  :)

  • eh. Shuttles aren't so bad. And the drivers are usually all about helping you get your stuff in and out. Slip him/her a $10 so you get extra help.

How much stuff are you bringing, anyway? How long are you going to be gone? I feel like one big suitcase would be sufficient, plus the carseat if you're bringing it. Not *too* horrible.

  • OH - and if toddlerLeg doesn't have one yet, set her up with a tiny backpack so she can haul her *own* sippy cups, comfort items, and busy toys around.  Definitely easier.

  • Yeah, it's 1 suitcase, 1 carry-on case (for right now, might downgrade to 1 case tonight) I'm checking and her car seat which will go on-plane.  DD will def. have her own backpack to carry.

And judge away, but I'm leashing ToddlerLeg the minute we get to the airport.

YES!  DD has a princess backpack (sorry, baconsmom) that is just big enough to hold wipes, a few diapers (she's still not potty-trained - sorry, nico), a cup and a small toy.   She is always so excited about carrying it!
  • Indianapolis Intl Airport lets you park short term for I think 30 mins to 1 hour for free (in case you're waiting on someone to arrive on a flight or want to help them get their luggage) We usually park short term, check in and check luggage, then go park the car so we don't have to manhandle the luggage on a shuttle! Good luck!
