Wedding Woes

My dog had a seizure :(

I woke up this morning to him throwing up.  As soon as I started to get out bed he hunkered down on the floor (like he usually does if he think/knows he's been bad) but then he suddenly rolled onto his side and started convulsing.  H was the shower so I ran to get him then ran back to Ruger.  H managed to get him to stop while I tried to reach our vet, but his legs were still locked up and he growled at me as though he didn't recognize me.  He seemed almost normal by the time we got him downstairs and to the vet.  The vet said there isn't much they can do at this point.  We just have to wait and see if he has more.

I really thought his stomach had flipped or something, it was just terrifying to see him like that.

Ooo, L&R, that is so scary.  I'm glad he's doing better now and our doggie family will keep your doggie family in our thoughts.

I'm in the midst of dealing with this myself.  I just had the vet check him over yesterday.  My dog is 9 yrs old and had his third seizure.  The vet basically said as long as it is not happening more frequently (i.e., monthly or less) that there is not much to do.  She said its more common in puppys so she is running some blood work just to see if anything shows up with his thyroid, but basically, there really is nothing they can do.  If they become more frequent, then they would put him on meds, but that would only be to stop the seizures and does nothing to fix the issue.

Its so sad to see my dog go through this and my son really gets so upset when it happens.  All we can do is pet him and keep talking reassuringly to him until it ends.

I'm so sorry L&R. At least you were home and able to get to your vet right away.

We went through this with Milky a couple years ago. Unfortunately we weren't home and MIL didn't call us until the next morning.

tons of "healthy dog" vibes are coming your way.

When I was younger, my family dog had a seizure. He had them somewhat often, but it was the first one I witnessed and my parents werent home. I know how scary that is. Vibes for your doggie, but I think they are usually more scary for the owner than the dog.
