Wedding Woes

Names

I'm reading through local birth annoucements

Josefine (I'm sure this is pronounced Josephine, but I see something like "Dang, Jose is FINE.)

Ceaton

Alyvia

Haggard (I actually kind of like this)

JaColby

That last one made me quit reading.  I just don't want to know anymore.

  • Also, less than 50% of these parents seem to be married.  I am old, cranky, and judgmental over here.

  • ... I kinda like that some countries have lists of accepted names. These names get intense. I'm glad I'm not a teacher.

    Kylin?  like....Killin'?

    what? JaColby?
  • Haggard is awesome.

Also, I was browsing personalized mugs in a local (to work) shop yesterday, and there is something wrong with the world when they don't stock "Madeline" but do have "Makayla."
  • My FI and I have decided on (at least) our boys' names. Mason West and Max Jameson.

Reason: I just love the name Mason, it sounds very southern. West was my Nana's maiden name and she is the last one in her line so I like the idea of keeping the name going.

FI and I thought of Max one night in the car, like in Where the Wild Things Are. We both have a lot of men named James in our family, including my dad, brother and both grandfathers, so we wanted to keep that tradition going but change it up a little.

I like Harper Grace for a girl. He wants to name out girl Roxanne.

You know, like the hooker from the song.

i am really interested in knowing why people think an apostrophe makes a name sound/look prettier.

Apparently, MC Eiht is suing Ryan Lochte over the term "jeah."  Just some news you can use, Dharma. :)

I grew up with the name Harper. I was called Harper from infancy to high school. My family still calls me Harper, but I am so happy that I go by my first name now because I can't handle all of this Harper attention.

I was Harper before it was cool.

  • I just want my kid to be like you! :P

  • I could never name my child Haggard...
    "1. of a hawk : not tamed
    2. a : wild in appearance
b : having a worn or emaciated appearance : gaunt <haggard faces looked up sadly from out of the straw — W. M. Thackeray>
    hag·gard·ly adverb
  • For some reason, I read that as "Hagrid" and not "Haggard". Silly nerd.
