Wedding Woes

This kind of crap really pisses me off (RANT!)

I'm checking my yahoo email, and there is a link about a woman losing weight.  Wonderful, right?

Except they include some sort of "typical" day of eats for this chick.

I added up what she ate and it was pretty liberal, meaning I padded it.  I came up to less than 900 calories.

WTF?!?!  WHO in their right mind would promote this crap!?!

Talk about completely uneducated and spreading misinformation.

  • I JUST read that article and thought the same thing to myself.  No way is that healthy.

I guess they thought adding she "was admittedly "super, super strict" about her diet" was enough of a disclaimer.
  • Yeah, and not mentioning she may or may not have disordered eating.

People who think being skinny is an accomplishment. <div>
</div><div>I'm amazed you have the energy to get angry about this stuff. Until very recently, this woud have been a doctor's visit for me - anything to get skinny, and screw your actual health, fatty. Can't live on 900 calories a day? You obviously don't have enough willpower, and that's why you're fat to begin with. </div><div>

  • Weight Watchers - at least they were a few years ago.

MIL is a lifetime member of WW. She was getting really tired, really quickly a few years back (she was still following WW then, and keeping a food diary) - despite eating her full "points" value of food each day, (and some of her extras each week) she was only getting about 900-950 calories/day. Basically, she was starving herself, but since she had been doing it so long (years - she was at her goal weight) that her metabolism had slowed down to accommodate. She had increased her activity slightly, and bam - ended up at the doctor. She spoke with a nutritionist who had her increase to about 1500-1600 cal/day, and she's doing a lot better. I know WW revised their points system, so maybe it's better now, but that was somewhat scary.

  • WW allows unlimited fruits and vegetables now, so yes, it is better.

Oh there are certainly people that think it's healthy.  Just like people that think surgery will be a cure all.
