Wedding Woes

Question for those with an IUD.

I'm getting Mirena on Thursday.   What's the pain level with insertion?  Should I take 1 Vicodin or 2 before the appointment?

My mom's taking me and going to hang out and watch DefConn for a little bit afterward.   So there's no worries about me driving or being alone with the baby.

It'll be easier since you pushed a baby out of your cervix. When I had mine put in it was pretty bad but I'd never had my cervix dilated before. When I get it put in again (with my first post partum period) it'll be easier.

Yeah, it is not Vicodin worthy really.  And I haven't had a kid (in a long time).

OK.  The Dr told me to take one or two before my appt.

::shrugs:: Maybe I'll pop a couple ibuprofen.

Yes, Motrin is all you need.

Or some valium.  lol.  It's just something you can breathe through, but the ibuprofen will help with cramping.

I'm getting a the Paragard IUD next wednesday.   The nurse told me to start taking 600 mg of ibuprofen every 6 hours starting the night before insertion.

The cramping with the Mirena was much worse for me pre-baby. Post baby (6 weeks postpartum) it was uncomforable, but not really painful. You should be fine with some Motrin, or 1 Vicodin, if you *really* want it. I drove myself home both times - I don't think it was any worse than PMS cramps.
