Re: NOLA

  • Ha. I will always remember 1992 because the Boys II Men, Jodeci and Mary J. Bilge cds. I know my college roommate played the hell out of those cds.

Oh. I forgot Diamond and Pearls by Prince. She played the heck out of that one too.

There are years that stand out because of music for me.

    1984- My British pop years.
1987- My Wham and rap years.
1991-1994 The best years for R&B and Rap, IMO

It's all down hill from there. I can't seem to remember the 2000's for some reason. Old age, I guess.

  • The 90s were key, as R&B was awesome then.
The 2000s were okay, but I still found myself buying old 90s albums or revisiting music I already owned.  A few stand out, but the classics are always the best.

I think the reason I love all of the J Timberlake/A Samberg songs on SNL is due to the recall of 90s R&B.  In interviews, they've both said that was the inspiration for most of the tunes - they grew up on it and loved it.

  • I believe I still might own Usher's first tape when he was a mere pup singing about doing the nasty.
