I wonder how those two function

They really are dumb.
- sFIL drove my car.  MIL in the front seat me in the back between the carseats.  I get that it wasn't his car, but there was a serious discussion about which gear he should be in.  It's an automatic.  Put it in D.

- There happens to be a 4 next to the D so MIL kept talking about how he was in "4 wheel drive."  This brought on a conversation about 4 wheel drive vs. 4th gear.

- sFIL ordered a breakfast bowl thing.  It had a big glob of sour cream on top.  MIL thought it was butter.  There was a big conversation about whether it was butter or sour cream.  sFIL was eating it and didn't know what it was.

- sFIL has never heard the term short sale.

- We came to an intersection with a right turn lane. The lane to turn left or go straight had a red light.  We were in the lane to turn right and it had a green arrow.  MIL thought that sFIL couldn't turn and yelled at him for turning right on red.  Big discussions ensued on if he broke the law.

Next time, tell them not to come.  It is best for everyone involved.  Including your children.

I love how all these insanely mundane things turned into major conversations. I'd have gone nuts. I think common sense actually decreases with age.

If it's your car why are you not driving?

There was no way either of them could have fit in the back with the carseats.  Usually DH is there so we have to take 2 cars.  i just figured this would be easier.  I was wrong.

I hope you learned your lesson.  *passes you some tea*  Your feelings and needs are just as important as there's, if not more so.

    Oh my.

Imagine the conversations they must have when they are alone?

um, even if the light *was* red, he could still legally make a right unless otherwise marked - unless OH has adopted some sort of crazy traffic laws since the last time i drove there.

I wasn't about to bring that point up Barbie.  I would normally ask DH to bring me liquor, but since he's spending the evening with my mom we're probably equally annoyed.

zsa- they talk AT each other but never really TO each other.  I've seen a conversation where they will both just be happily chattering away about two different things at the same time.

When I lived in the city, people like this were my favorite to watch on the subway, because when you don't know them, you can just laugh hysterically.

    I am so sorry.
