Wedding Woes

we need a new tv

Our main tv takes a good 10-30 tries to turn on.  The picture size also changes as you are watching and you can never see the edges of any show.  The reason we haven't bought a new one...the tv stand.  We don't need a new one, we just need to swap it out.

Oh, lordy. Just the thought of that makes me nervous.

the color is getting wonky on our TV, and we have to watch at fuill volume to hear most shows (even then it's hard) - we've been talking about getting a new TV for a while now, but we had initially planned on moving this one to our bedroom to replace the 13" in there.

Whenever you're ready to buy, check dell.com.  I somehow stumbled upon them when I was looking and their prices consistently beat Wal Mart and Best Buy - and they have free shipping.

I wish any of you lived close to me, I have a perfectly good TV just taking up space in our garage. H was initially going to use it in his "man cave" but I'm not sure that idea will ever come to fruition in this house.

We can't see the edges of many shows - mostly network, mostly ones that procalim they're HD. We don't have HD service, though we do have an HD ready TV, so keep in mind that that may not be a function of your television.

Zilla- is there a brightness adjustment?

Interesting about dell.  DH won this tv 11 years ago so we more than got our "money's worth."

Agreed with bmom on the HD stuff. That was so annoying with the old TV.

FWIW, we bought ours in July, which seemed to be when a lot of the newer models were coming out. We got an LED for the same price as a newer LCD (basically half off) and are really happy with it.

Not sure if you can hold out that long, but you may get a better deal this way. If you do get it at Best Buy, be sure to sign up/use the RewardZone thing. A big purchase like a TV will get you lots of points. In fact, I think I was "silver" or "platinum" or something for a year because of the TV purchase + a work purchase that I got reimbursed for. (you know, back when they actually paid me)

I don't know if we can hold out to mid-year.  6let gets to watch 1-2 shows in the morning.  He gets really upset when he has to wait 10 mins for the tv to turn on.  It's not fun before coffee.
