FIL update

He was out of breath and in a lot of chest pain with pain and numbness down his left arm.  The squad (oddly the 2 EMTs were ex son-in-laws) took him in as possible heart attack.  That was ruled out and his speech started slurring so they went to stroke.  At that point they called the bigger hospital to schedule a flight out.  The neuro at big hospital said little hospital was doing more than enough so leave him there.

They believe that he had a clot break loose so they have admitted him for monitoring and they will do an MRI.  FIL's speech is coming back and he is feeling a lot better.  sMIL is dealing pretty well- she has had her own stroke like issues and has a form of dimentia.

Stupid SIL is there and DH is ready to punch her.

I'm glad he was at the hospital. They have that magic shot now that the sooner it gets into the patient (w/in 24 hours) the more reversable any effects from the stroke are.

Awkward about the EMTs.

So, progressing news.  That's good.

Well, I would agree that is mostly good news for the update.  Sorry SIL is on DH's last nerve.  I have a sister like that too.

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way for his speedy recovery and for DH's patience to hold out.

The big problem now is if there are clots he won't be able to take the blood thinners he's supposed to take because of his heart valve.

Is SIL upset that he even called an ambulance?  I mean, she could have taken care of him.  She knows everything you know.

Why would they take him off of blood thinners because of clots?  It seems like that would just be two reasons to be on them. But, I don't know anything about how these things work.

Between MIL's health teacher status and SIL's know-it-all status they really didn't need a hospital, but I guess FIL opted to go.

The blood thinners was bad info.  I guess they've found more clots on his heart today so who knows what's going to happen now.
