Wedding Woes

Things

~ my dad is still not doing well. He's currently in a nursing home because he can't be adequately cared for at home. He looks like hell. He's super skinny except for his big belly that's all fluid and liver. He DID have a great visit with M on Saturday and stayed awake for the whole visit. He was really forgetful and kept calling her "Ginger" which is the dog. We're still basically waiting for ANYthing to happen and I'm really not hopeful. It kills me to see FIL with M since I know that my dad won't/can't have the same kind of relationship with her.

~ M is beyond wonderful. I've never seen a more smiley baby in my life. This kid loves to smile, talk and laugh. I love coming home to her full body smile every evening after work.

~ My allergies are horrible and because I'm nursing I can't take anything. Really, if I had a good milk supply I could take something but anything that would help will cause a dip in supply and mine sucks as it is.

    I'm sorry.

(on point #3, there's some evidience that antihistimines affect supply...but there's as much evidence that they DON"T.  And Claratin is BFing safe.  Just sayin', 'cuz I've been popping the suckers at leats once a week)

I don't even want to risk it. I'm lucky if I pump 10oz a day.

I'm glad your dad is doing okay and M is so happy.  My doc said loratadine (claritin ) is fine, just not the stuff with a D you have to show id for.
  • I'm sorry about your dad, and your allergies.

    understandable.

Drink some tea?  It won't help but you can pretend it's medicine.  I do.
  • 1.  This is btchy, but I feel like telling you to go ahead and start that grieving process now - your dad's relationship will never be the relationship your FIL has with M.  Even if he lived another 30 years, but stayed in bed 24/7, it still wouldn't be the same.  Hell, I grew up without a grandpa on one side and I survived.  From what you tell us, your dad wasn't a rocketship of awesome anyways.  So yes, it sucks.  But you need to start grabbing some planks and drafting some blueprints - I see a bridge that needs building.  If you haven't started yet, you're going to have to get over that major hump at some point and not let it "kill" you everytime you think about it.

Also, I am sorry your dad is dying.  I can't even imagine.  But I still stand by my btchiness.

    2.  This age is so fun.  Enjoy it while it lasts.  Before you know it, she's going to be telling you no and running off to stick things in electrical outlets.

    3.  I think you can take anything as long as it doesn't have a decongestant in it.  But I understand your concerns - start netipotting your nose to at least clear out the congestion.  I feel your pain on this one.  :(

  • 1.  I'm so sorry.  ::hugs::  I do agree with Nico though.  It's OK to start grieving.   My grandfather (dad's dad) passed when my mom was pregnant with me and I'm a-OK.  I'm closest to my maternal grandmother of all my grandparents.

    2. YAY for smiles, coos, and laughing.  DefConn has gotten really smiley in the past couple weeks and I just love it.  He's starting to coo a little bit and I could just eat him up.

    3. Boo allergies and boo having to worry about meds affecting your supply.  I totally understand.
