April 2012 Weddings

Who knew?

... that putting invitations together would be an all day job? I used my computer to address the invitations as well as the RSVP envelopes (with our address and the guest's as return address). {btw - darn the etiquette people on not handwriting them ;) } I wanted to use green ink and this nice font that I have for them.

I watched "Breaking Dawn Part I" while stuffing envelopes. I did handwrite the names on the RSVP cards. Also the map that's on the enclosure cards came out smaller than I expected and I penciled some of the roads on each one.

Total of about 80 to do. I started at 10am and finished at 6pm. Took a break around 2pm and took a sample to the post office. My envelopes "just" fit the size so that I can use 45c stamps - I have the two roses forever stamps.

I haven't sealed them yet, but got a glue stick to do that. I'm just glad that they're basically done!

Got hair trial this weekend :) Things are moving along!

Re: Who knew?

  • Ugh invitations take forever! We just sent ours out Monday...I'm so relieved to be done with them. Just wait- it feels so great once you get to send them out.
  • Yea, I made all of the invitations and pocket folds.  My sister and I worked on them for about 8 hours on Saturday and then I had to leave to travel for work and FI had to finish them and spent another 8 hours.  Definitely time consuming, but if feels great when they are done.  We sent them out on Tuesday and started hearing from people on Wednesday that they received them.
  • I already did mine, and it definitely was a project! All that I have left to do is finish addressing the envelopes of my single friends. I left a few of them blank just in case they started dating someone, since I started doing them like 2 months ago!

  • This is why I'm glad I went with a super basic 6x9 flat invite. Just an RSVP postcard (which I wrote their names on) and the map card from the venue. I handwrote all of the addresses for 60 invites. I'd say it took about 4 hours. Way more than I expected too.
  • I did pocketfolds as well and they took some serious time but oh so worth it. Ours have gone out and people are starting to send RSVPs YAY.

  • I am finishing my invite assembly this weekend but they won't go out until the very end of the month.  We have what will hopefully be our last cake tasting tomorrow (fingers crossed).
  • Mine took 11.5 hours

I got a flat 6x9 invite, also. I also have an RSVP card that's 4.75x3.5 (I think?) and envelopes for those, and then a map/hotel enclosure card. I can use the Forever stamps on both types of envelopes <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

The only thing is I have one more invite and ran out of the two-roses forever stamps. I have some regular Liberty Bell forever stamps. It's for one of my boy cousins who I know could care less, but why is it I get this feeling that I don't want to use the liberty bell stamps because they aren't pretty? LOL I probably will go ahead and put the liberty bell stamps on his just to have it all over with.
