Wedding Woes

Irrational annoyance of the day

http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/52145788.aspx

For some reason, the tall guy and tiny woman combo really irks me.  I have no good reason; it doesn't affect me in any way, and i'm not a tall woman who felt limited to taller men.  Maybe it's that I'm kinda short and hate people looming over me, maybe it's the fact that the one time I dated a guy over 6' it was that one that looked like a serial killer (YOU remember the one from the Facebook scare thread).  I suspect it's neither.

Fun thing heard about that kind of pairing:

She's so tiny and he' so tall, she has to go up on him.

It bothers me because I am a taller chick and all the shorties seem to get the tall guys that I want. I usually ended up with a guy about my height, like H. When I wear heels, I'm taller than him.

I'm 5'1". I've never dated a guy under 5'10". I just can't do it. My preference is for guys who loom over me - big, tall, hefty guys - but I "settled" for my 5'11" husband.

Of course, I'm a short woman who takes up a lot of space, so maybe that has something to do with it.

    hehehe @ dharma.

I'm 5'2", DH is 6'1".   I've had the same problem with short guys - they all seem to have Napoleon complexes or are serial killers.   I'm now only attracted to men that are on the tall side.   However, DH's BFF is 6'6" and I get a little jumpy when he "looms" over me - so I can understand your perspective.

i'm 5'2" and one of my "rules"' was that i wouldn't date anyone over 5'9" -- it's just annoying.

and kuus, i don't know which dude you're talking about.  you dated a lot of serial killer looking dudes.

I don't think I've ever put much thought into how I feel about a guy's height. I guess looking back I've liked tall guys, but the only two men I ever loved were about my height (which still isn't short, one was 5'11" and H is 5'10"). All the asshats I've ever dated were 6'0" and taller, oddly enough.

Also, I am tall all effing day, every day of the week.  Sometimes, it's nice to feel smaller.

5'9" was my cutoff too, Hmo.  And I mean the one with all the facial hair and whatnot.

i'm 5'4" - i've always liked taller guys (6'+) but have dated some guys in the 5'9-5'10 range. DK is 6'2.

Sister is 5'7 or 5'8 and she's dating 2 guys right now - one is about 6' and the other is 6'8 (not a typo) - most of the guys she has dated have been about her height and it bothered her - so I told her to enjoy the tall guys and wear some heels.

I don't like guys over 5'7, I think we would look funny when we dance.  LOL, Hubby is barely 5'6.  Tall girls have no reason to hate me.

Agreed. I feel enough like a giant klutz just as it is. I don't need to feel like a linebacker next to my husband.  (I am 5'10". H is 6'1".)

My mom just about flipped when I wore 3" heels for the wedding. She was all "You're going to be taller than he is!!!!!!"  Um, that'll make us right about the same height, mom. It's cool.  And even if it didn't, why do you care?  (She ended up getting over it.)

And I did often feel like the short women were taking up the tall men. Then again, it's probably better, breeding-wise. ;)
