To save money on postage I am throwing my friend a stamp shower!  I got a list of all of her female out of town guests and will be sending them an invite that says something like this: Sarah is getting married!!  Sshe can't wait to see you all at the wedding! Let's shower the bride with stamps! Please mail a card and include one or two books of 44 or 28 cents stamps back to me by June 1. I will organize all the cards in a binder and present it to Sarah at one of her showers with her local guests here in Houston!  Your participation will be like being there at the shower with Sarah! Thanks so much in advance, I know she will love it! - bridesmaid Sophie

I would laugh and laugh if I got that in the mail.

I think I would turn it over and write "Sorry, I will not be able to attend" and mail it back with only the stamp that it takes to get there.
