Discussion on banana bread

I made banana bread and my recipe calls for smashed bananas.  Since I had my food processor out to chop walnuts, I tossed the bananas in for "smashing."  Unfortunately, I got distracted and they were pureed.  I figured it wouldn't hurt anything and just mixed them in to the dry ingredients.

In the pan, into the oven and out.  This is the best banana bread I have ever made/eaten.  it is so light and fluffy, yet the right density to be a moist, flavorful bread.  And the right amount of buttery goldenness on top.  Deeeeelishhhhhus.

From here on out, the recipe will read "pureed bananas."

I hate you!   I have been craving banana bread for weeks!!!   Unfortunately, the smell of banana peels make me want to die, so I can't make any for myself.  :::stromp:::

Maybe because frozen bananas become a watery, brown (but oh so good to cook with) mess when they thaw?  At least that's what the ones in my freezer are like.  And I have many, many, containers of them because there is a force field around my house that causes bananas to ripen and develop brown spots within two minutes of coming through the door.

I know!!  It's a massive force field that stretches from Atlanta to DC.  Or maybe it's just a wormhole between our two houses.  If we could figure out a way to travel through it, I would have you over for dinner and serve my grannie's banana cake for dessert.

Homemade banana ice cream is the best. thing. ever. It has the consistency of frozen whipped cream.

Jojo blogged something about pureed frozen bananas eaten plain like ice cream.  I still haven't done it and I don't know why.

I've done it - it's super easy and pretty tasty.  Not as good as Breyer's Banana Fudge Chunk (or its Publix equivalent), mind you, but a much more health-friendly option.

    Here's the recipe:

ETA:  that should probably say here are the instructions since there's only one ingredient.
