re: voting (again)

Apparently people are so stupid they're instagraming, fb-ing and tweeting pictures of their completed ballots.

NOT so good.

Re: re: voting (again)

  • I don't understand why more people don't see the value in keeping the secret ballot secret.

I mean, yah, you guys can guess a lot of how I voted (although there would probably be some surprises :-P) but, FFS, don't bring that shite up at work!

Y'know, there's some businesses here that are offering up free or reduced beers with "proof" of voting.  The sticker will work, but they also said a picture of you in teh booth.  I had thought, for some reason, pictures were illegal at the voting booth b/c they could be used for voter intimidation.  I have no idea why I think this.

Maybe if you take it of yourself, it's alright?
  • When I was little, I used to think that nobody should be talking about politics at all, because we had SECRET ballots. As in, you couldn't tell anyone how you voted, because it was a SECRET.

I kind of think it should actually work that way.

in TX it's illegal to have your phone on/out in the booth.

they were making everyone turn off /put away their phones while we waited in line to sign in
  • I also got in trouble for using my phone while standing in line.

However, DH did send me a picture of his ballot because I've been giving him a hard time.

  • Maybe not the smartest thing, but only illegal in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and West Virginia, according to the Citizen Media Law Project.
