Wedding Woes

dance with FIL?

The wedding is 6/19. Last night, my fiance springs on me that his step-dad wants to have a dance with me after he has his dance with his mom. My father is out of the picture and his stepdad had all boys, no daughters.  We don't see his mother and step-father that often so was a little uncomfortable wtih the idea when he brought it up so he proceeded to bite my head off because "it's family" and was po'd because I didn't say yes right away.  OMG! so frustrating!!!!

Your FI needs a junk punch.

Agreed. You aren't obligated to dance with anyone.

FI needs to EABOD.  If you're uncomfortable with something he shouldn't force you to do it just because "IT'S FAMILY"

those dances are really places of honoring your parents.  SFIL is not necessarily someone you need to honor as someone who raised you or supported you.

have a mother/son dance, and a bride/groom dance, and be done with it.

It'd be different if it were YOUR idea.

    That is just creepy.

Why does he need a formal dance? Can't you just dance with him on the floor when everyone else is dancing?

Agreed, you are not obligated to dance with anyone.  However, if you aren't totally opposed, you and SFIL could join your FI and his mom toward the end of their dance.  It would be shorter and you wouldn't be on the floor alone with his step-father.  Just a possibility.

I'm with WifeZ.  I suspect SFIL isn't going to leave room for the Holy Spirit during this dance, if you know what I mean.
