Reception Space

So, I'm having a bit of an awkward space issue for my reception. Our reception is taking place in a large ballroom that can accomodate 200 people (or more, not sure). Its not that its not big enough -- but its that its too big! I'm only inviting 90 people to my wedding, and a lot of family is from out of town, so we're only estimating 50 or 60 will come O.O

If you're wondering why I chose such a big space -- its gorgeous, and it had no minimum for Sunday, which is the day of the week we wanted. It was honestly the best thing we could find in the area, but I hadn't thought of it being too big until I just finalized the guest list. I know this probably isn't a big issue, but I was hoping that someone may have ideas on how to make the space seem a little smaller, and that we won't look silly or dwarfed having our reception there.

Thanks!

We were in a similar situation - had a ballroom that fits 300 but only had 120 guests. You couldn't tell at all.  The venue spaced out the tables and filled the room and it looked beautiful.  Pics in married bio.

Just be sure to work with the coordinator at your venue and explain your concern and ask about spreading out the tables.  Once the room is set up with tables and chairs and a cake table and bar, it will look more full.

I am having some of the same concerns myself about location. I am trying to pick between two places. One I'm concerned might be kind of small even though they say they can fit 150 people (our wedding at max should be 125). And the other seems like it might be kind of big.

You could create a "lounge" area with rented furniture to take up some space! or create a fake wall out of fabric or flowers- use super inexpensive flowers like baby's breath.
