Photo guest books

Are these stupid? Or are they a good idea? FI and I are still debating on what to do with a guest book!!!

Re: Photo guest books

  • I love them!!!! I really want a photo booth so I can do this, I just dont know if its in the budget. I think they are unique, fun, great ice beakers, and you aren't going to get the standard "generic messages"- it really gives your guests a chance to let loose and be creative :)

  • I think that it's a great idea.... in fact, so great, I did it myself.

It went over well and it was a great keepsake for us.
  • We did it too and we got a lot of good messages in it.

  • I am debating between this and a "wedding wishes" guestbook. I don't know what is easier. Ugh.

I love ours.  We stayed up after the wedding reading it.

I did my book with blank pages so that people could sign magazine style.  I also took mine to my shower and my RD and I'm glad I did because it gave more people time to write.
  • I was looking at renting a photo booth for my wedding.
I thought that way people can print strips off, put them in an album and write beside them, etc. Or they can take the strips home as part of their favors (I get a disc at the end so I get them all regardless).

I love the idea of having a polaroid to snap guest photo's for the guest book. I have a terrible memory, so 20 years from now if I'm no longer in touch with a friend that was there, if I have their face then hopefully I can remember! I've heard of people setting up a printer with photo sheets and just using their digital camera on a tripod, but that sounds like a bottleneck. Maybe have a friend manning the station and have people come back and sign during the cocktail hour, once the friend has printed all their photos off and put them in the album?

Then (and I'm going to do this latter part for sure) you can leave it set up on the tripod on video setting (most digital cameras have a digital video now I think) and guests can leave you reality-tv style messages. Great for the friend who wants to remind you about that embarrasing moment from the bachlorette but didn't want to say it infront of your grandma, or for the guests that maybe don't get to speak with you during the wedding (I have never really been able to talk to the bride at the weddings I"ve been to).

Either way I think you should look at doing photos (but I'm a photo holic so I may be biased)!
  • guestbookstore.com. This is where I got my guestbook and I love it.
  • We're having a photobooth and DEFINITELY having a photo guest book. Let's be honest here, I still read books or magazines just for the pictures.. my wedding guest book will be no different, haha. (kidding... slightly)

We actually JUST ordered a photo guestbook through Blurb.com yesterday! I'm REALLY excited about it!!!
It's going to be different than a photobooth guestbook because we put our engagement pics in it. Guests will be able to sign in the white space (or wherever, I guess!). I love how it's personal AND inexpensive to purchase!

    Take a look at it!!

    A couple of options:

A guestbook full of pictures of the pair of you, with space available for guests to sign (ie, your picture on the left page, and room to write on the right side.

Mixbook is amazing and I liked the website and the final product much better than the one I got from Shutterfly.

Or, we did a DIY photo booth, with a scrapbook as our guestbook.

  • Oh I wish I saw this feed before! Great idea to bring the book to the shower! I feel like people wont really have time to fill it out at the wedding! My shower was Sunday! Also, I agree with jena.  My mixbook came out AMAZING and im so psyched about that groupon! Thanks jena! Check mine out! http://www.mixbook.com/photo-books/wedding/wedding-guestbook-5304574 I didnt take a traditional approach with just engagement pics bc i REALLY wanted it to tell a story of our relationship.  For those that used it at their wedding, was there a good turnout??

  • I love your book! The changes over the years you've been together were neat to see :)

My only tin suggestion, is a couple pages have pictures really close to the center of the book.  The pages don't lay flat, and you might lose some of the pictures.

  • I wanted something more than the usual "Congratulations love auntie jane and uncle bob" messages so I am definitely doing a photo guestbook ot encourage a more personalized message and more fun for the guests too

I bought this gorgeous silk covered book from an Etsy seller

I'll have my brother manning the camera and photo printer (we have a small portable photo printer) and he can take a photo of each of our guest groups, print it out and stick it in the book and they can sign their message
