We are getting married early August, with an outdoor ceremony and tented reception. The ceremony starts at 1pm, so I am estimating the bridal party will be at the reception by around 3, 3:30.
My original thought for centerpieces was to have 3 different height cylindrical glass vases with orchids submersed in water, with a floating candle on top, possibly sitting on a mirrored glass plate. I planned to have some flower petals and votives scattered around each arrangement.
The more I think about it, the more I'm worried it will look dumb to have candles in a centerpiece for a 'daytime' reception-even if it carries on into the night. It doesn't typically get dark till 8-9pm this time of year so it may be pointless. However, I was just looking at some pictures of tented weddings and it seems like the tent can block out a lot of light. The candles weren't going to be a major light source-more for ambiance..but I'm very unsure now.
Would it be dumb to have candles as part of the centerpiece or should I scratch that idea? Tried bouncing it off my BM's but still don't know what to do.
