Theme/Venue help

I have this idea in my head for how my wedding will look. I love reading/books, and i want my centerpieces to be romantic books (hopefully vintage looking or at least with the paper covers off the hardbacks) with candles and a (maybe) small flower arrangement ontop of some of the stacked books.  I want to have a whimsical/chic/country/vintage combination.  My colors are shades of purple (lavendar) and yellow (i love sunflowers) and a soft soft brown. Talking with my MOH, we definitely want short dresses for the girls with cowboy boots, the short dresses work cause of a summer wedding.
I feel like I'm just having trouble trying to figure out how to pull this together and also pick a venue that will suit this. I see so many hotels and what not, but how do you fit that style in a hotel ballroom. And sites with barns seem hard for me to find. I have a lot of people coming from out of town, so I need something close to a hotel *think a couple or five miles*, cause I don't want people driving far, and don't know if bulk transportation is in my budget yet, though I feel like my parents have given me a decent budget to work within. We live in Prince George, and want a Richmond/Tri-Cities event, so at least half of our party won't necessarily need overnight accomadations.
Ladies, any help would be amazing, whether a venue suggestion or advice on pulling my ideas together.
Another note that might help with suggestions. I don't want a very formal event, but I don't want it to be super crazy casual either. My FI and I were thinking for the men in the WP that they would were dress pants, shirts (maybe sleeves rolled up), vests and ties. He absolutely does not want a tux or jacket (summer). We were thinking some shad of tan for them and white shirts.  I know that is considered casual, but like I said I don't want the overal feel to be back yard-ish. I hope that makes sense. :-)

Also, I posted this on the Richmond Knot wedding board, but I wanted to post here also to get more feedback. thanks

You don't need help with your theme, sounds like you got it down! Sounds cute too! Your venue should definitely have outdoor capability! If your ideas are similar to what I'm thinking, you should have an all outside event! Maybe a pavilion might do well? The only thing I see that would be difficult with a pavilion would be access to electricity... You might need to use lots of extension chords!

If the pavilion doesn't sound good to you, choose a place by a lake or pond.... water features are not only peaceful and elegant, but they also add to your country theme! BTW Lavender and sunflowers are amazing flowers to use together, the colors compliment one another and really add to your theme!

There are some libraries near me that hold weddings. I just mentioned this because you brought up books.
  • I can't really help you with your venue, but we had a local wedding very much like you are describing get featured on Style Me Pretty.  Maybe it will help you with your vision.

  • A pavillion might be ok, I don't like the idea of a tent so much, i'd rather have sturdy structure, but open.

Stephanie - that wedding was beautiful, some of the ideas were things I was thinking about doing.
  • When looking for a venue be sure to ask if there are hotels that they work with in the area.  If they do then they usually offer a free night for bride and groom.  Also, If a hotel is near a wedding venue they will most likely offer shuttle service both ways for guests staying there.  Happy Planning!!

  • just a thought-sa a BM i'd never want to wear boots all day for a summer wedding. WAY too hot.

  • The small touches are what are going to bring everything together...I just went to a wedding that the guest book really was a book and you found a page and wrote a quote or signed it ..it was very very cute...I am also having a rustic type wedding so you really need to find all you personal touches a outdoor wedding is a must to tie in what you are trying to do..go go google images and type in book weddings or anything like that and get  ideas
