Centerpiece decision

Okay, so I was all set on making my centerpieces.  They were to be tall cylinder vases filled with fall type potpourri with a branch sticking out of the top and votive candles hanging from the branches.  Great righ???!!!  Well, we had a ton of sunflowers left over from my shower so I put them in my cylinder vases.  Now, I am thinking they look good. Here is my issue though...are sunflowers too "fun"  and simple.  I was really going for the unique and elegant.  All suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Re: Centerpiece decision

  • Do you have any mockup photos you can post? That may be easier for others to see and comment. I do associate sunflowers with "fun" and not "elegant" in general, but maybe with the candles/branches in the vase they look different?
  • I just don't think of sunflowers as being unique and elegant.  They do give off more of a fun vibe.  Could you maybe combine your two ideas somehow?
  • Agree with pp, sunflowers make me think of summer and fun. I do think they are unique because they are not a typical wedding flower, I've been to many, many weddings and have never seen sunflowers used.
  • Personally, I'd rather see the fun sunflowers than vases full of pot pourri and branches. Pot pourri just can end up looking "cluttered", and I just don't care to smell strongly scented items on the table where I"m eating, it interferes with the smell and taste of the food. You might could put some curly willow branches with the sunflowers, and if it goes with your color scheme, I love those vivid purple filler flowers (statice) with sunflowers. It really makes them pop. If you want a more elegant look, make an elegant arrangement of just greenery and the curly willow branches, then add just 2-3 sunflowers per vase.
