Creative Send-offs

I'm looking for a good idea for a creative send-off at the end of the reception. My reception site doesn't allow rice, red rose petals, or bird seed. I am against doing sparklers only because I recently had two friends get burnt using them. Has anyone heard of any creative suggestions?  The only other thing I've ruled out is bubbles, because I think they're too juvenile for the ballroom our reception is being held in. Please help!

Re: Creative Send-offs

  • If it's announced that you are leaving, the guests will naturally flock to see you off. Stop and hug and kiss your family, smile and wave at your guests, who will likely be smiling, waving, cheering, and taking enough pictures for it to feel as if you are on the red carpet, and the paparzzi are giving you a send off. That's pretty creative.
  • I've rarely seen a big "send off" from any reception I've attended as the B&G are generally among the last to leave. At DD's wedding a couple weeks ago, everyone had left but them, our other son and DIL and other DD. At our son and DIL's wedding 3 years ago, they were also among the very last to leave.  I think most B&G's want to enjoy every minute of their party. And honestly, I can't think of another reception I've been to where there was a big 1940's movie-type "grand exit".  In fact, I think that grand exits are something that you see much more in old movies than IRL.If you must do something, I vote for clapping and cheering.  Free, easy to organize, and not lame.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • I went to a wedding once where everyone threw paper airplanes at them while they were leaving...It was different.

  • Ditto Trix.
  • Sky lanterns are really cute, our friends had them and they worked really well with everyone going out to watch them.
  • Glad to hear those sky lantern things work! I was considering them for our send off. They make for some amazing pictures!
