Cameras on tables?

Are you doing this/did you do this? I wasn't planning on it and then yesterday a co-worker highly recomended that I do this. I'm thinking most of the guests will bring their own cameras and then we would just do a photo share. What are your thoughts?

It would cost so much to develop all of those cameras....I would definitely just do a photoshare...better pictures and cheaper

I have heard from many, that the pictures don't turn out/people take the cameras. Also, I was a photo lab tech. for a while and a lot of times, pictures really didn't come out that well. I would do a photo sharing site, that's what I'm doing as most people have digital camera's now anyway.

Disposable cameras = old and bustedPhoto-sharing = new hotness ;)

I have been thinking about this too - I have seen some great candids come from cheap disposable cameras and I am pretty sure every wedding I have ever been to has included them... You are right about people bringing their own cameras, but by using the disposables, you are guaranteed to receive all the pictures that were taken that day, without having to seek any of them out... It probably also depends on the size of the reception (how many tables) when it comes to the overall cost of getting them.I think I am voting yes. GL either way!

I am doing photo share cards. That way you don't have to pay to find out you have crap pictures.

No worries, Madam! Before your wedding, set up an account with a photo sharing website (Flickr, Photobucker, Shutterfly, etc.). Then print up cards (you can do this for free or nearly-free at Vistaprint.com) giving people the account information so that they can upload photos electronically that they take at the wedding. It gives everyone a chance to look at everyone else's photos, and you can see the photos everyone has taken long before thepro photos are rady for you. A downside is that you do have to rely on people's willingness to actually get online and upload photos, but as NCV pointed out, it's a much more convenient and inexpensive option than hoping that people will use a bunch of disaposable cameras and use them well.

As an example, here's what will be out at our wedding tomorrow:

I thought it would be cute, but when all is said & done it is a huge money waster, IMO. I know my family & they would take the most ridiculous & pointless pictures. .and I don't want to waste my money to develop 83947984 pictures of my Uncle's eyeball.

My brother did this and out of 27 disposables they only got a couple good ones. Most of them were too dark or the kids got ahold of them and were wasted. So for them it really wasn't worth all the extra money. That, and some people thought the cameras were favors and took them home as their own pics. I do not recommend doing this.

I was at a wedding where they did this and a few of the drunk guys there thought it would be funny to take pictures of themselves, their a$$es, things no one cares about, etc. etc...I say do the photo share cards!

I vote don't do the camera. The last time I was at a wedding with them I think the table took 3 pictures total and then got bored. So that definately was a waste a money.

Thank you all for your opinons and sharing your experiences. I think my coworker got married over 5 years ago, so the advice is probably out dated. I'm sticking with the photoshare cards. Thanks!!
