Reception Venues

Good morning ladies!I was just wondering if any of you have had your reception/been to someone elses/or even just looked at either The Regal Ballroom or the Oaks ballroom?If so, what have your thoughts been on these places??

    I had my high school reunion at the Regal Ballroom a few years ago.  Chris, the owner, is fantastic and the food is fabulous!

    My cousin is having hers at The Oaks next year, but I haven't been there yet.

    Jessica - would you say the Regal Ballroom was nice looking?  I am setting up an appt soon - just wanted opinions first.Also, would you happen to remember if the bar was in the ballroom with the crowd, or was it outside?

    i love the look of the ballroom.  my cousin also got married there 3 years ago (which i totally forgot about, ha!).  the bar is inside the room but it's in sort of an alcove.  that's the best way i can describe it.  it's not a separate room but it's partially blocked.

    FH and I checked out the Oaks for our wedding... I don't have any particular negatives about it, but it just wasn't what we were looking for.  That's probably not too helpful, but we were just underwhelmed.  I hear the food is good there, though!

    My best friend's sister was married at the Oaks a few years ago & I just went to a funeral luncheon there. There is an outdoor terrace for cocktail hour, which was nice. The ballroom itself is big, but very dark. It was nice, just not necessarily our taste. The bar is also in the same room.

    from talking to other brides at various functions I was told the Oaks is either cold in the winter or not cool enough in the summer... u might want to check this out if it will effect your wedding.  Not sure if this is reliable or not but I heard it from several sources.  One place I would never have looked was on McDade Blvd... I think it was the Heritage Ballroom...the outside is certainly nothing to rave about but the food was good and it's pretty inside...recenly redone.
