Guest Book ideas

Our wedding is going to be relatively small (50 give or take a few) and most of the guest books I've seen have quite a few pages in them. I don't want to use one if we're only going to fill 2 or so pages of it. Does anyone know of an alternative to a guest book we could do?

Re: Guest Book ideas

• PIB under DIY (we are doing a "wish bowl" sort of thing)...& BTW, we are only having 50 or so guests as well! Yea for small/intimate weddings!
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
• PIB under "paper". We are having guests sign rocks.
• I plan on getting a large bowl or platter from one of those DIY pottery places.  People can sign it and then I will take it back to be fired.  something fun, different, and useful!
• My mom made us a quilt for our wedding gift. With the extra pieces left over, she made a wall hanging that has 2 big squares where guests will sign using a Sharpie. She added borders and cross-stitched our names and date on it as well. It turned out really cool. We're only having about 60-70 people, so this should work out great. You could also do the photo mat idea. I also like the idea of a platter or some sort of pottery that's a little more 'permanent' and you can display it also. Personally, I've never really liked signing just a plain book at a wedding...I feel like the bride & groom will never look at it again, so why should I bother (although I always do sign it!) If you do want to go the book route, maybe fill it out with photos...of the 2 of you, of you and your families, of you and your friends. That way, there's room for people to sign, but not so much blank space. Hope that helps and good luck!
• We are doing a guest box, of sorts. There's a company near my hometown that makes beautiful carvings (wooden game boards, photo boxes, benches, whatever you want as long as it's out of wood.) I'm going to have them make a small box with our names and wedding date carved in the top and then people can put their well wishes and advice for us on a slip of paper and put it in the box. I'm not a scrapbooker, but I thought it would be great to scrapbook our wedding pictures and the well-wishes and advice from all of our friends and family. I also toyed with the idea of having people sign a small square of fabric and then Jeff's mom could make us a quilt...
• I really like the platter/bowl idea. How would I do it? Do I need to get it painted and fired before I have them sign it or what? Thanks ladies!
• For the platter, you can get it from a local "paint your own" ceramic pottery place (just Google it to see if there any near you), or you can order online at a site like this: http://www.celebrationplates.com/wedding.html.  Either way, the platter is hard and all ready to sign with the included special pottery pen.  If you buy from a ceramics place, you take it back to the place after it has been signed for firing to make the signatures permanent.  If you order online, you bake the platter in your home oven to set the signatures.  You can usually use the platter for serving, but should hand wash it.
• We are compiling pcitures of the two of us through out life and then our engagement pictures and putting together a photo book on one of those photoprint websites.  The guest will sign the picture pages with markers, kind of like a yearbook.  I still go back through my old yearbooks on occassion and figure I'll be more likely yo go back through a photobook.  In fact for the first few years I'll probably keep it on a coffeetable as a conversation starter.

• We made a photo guestbook on Snapfish with our engagement photos and people signed throughout around the photos (kind of like a yearbook). My 5-year-old niece had also made us a ceramic plate with our initials and wedding date on it that we used for guest to sign at our rehearsal cookout (it wasn't big enough to use at the wedding).
