La Bella Moda - Conshohocken

Hi Ladies,Yes, I'm married but I'm doing some research for a friend. Did anyone buy their wedding gowns or bridesmaid dresses there? If so, can you let me know if you liked or disliked it? All feedback welcomed!

I have a friend who bought her wedding gown there.  She disliked dealiing with the owner but liked the dress.  I almost bought my dress there.  The woman who helped me the first time we went was fabulous.  I think her name was Barbara.  I specifically asked for an appointment with her when we went back with my aunt and come to find out there was an emergency and she couldn't make it in that day.  Understandable.  Then I find out the "emergency" was a wedding.  They deliberately ignored my request.  In addition, the owner, who then took over my appointment was very rude and not helpful at all.  That sealed my decision.  I left and never looked back.

I got the BM dresses there and I had looked for my own gown there.  I liked the one lady who helped me but then not the other two.  that said, the dresses fit, came in on time, and Bella Moda was the only place in PA that carried them so i kinda had to go there

I got my dress there, and love it. I am a little worried about the fitting though. I know you usually have to order the gown larger, and they have size charts for each designer, but I'm afraid my dress will be too big. I've heard they (like many other places) pressure you to buy it big, and then charge a lot for alterations. I looked at the size charts myself, and my measurements matched up with the size I ordered, but it seems a little odd. I'm a 2 and they had me order an 8 and said I might want to get the 10 to have enough room for alterations! Most people I know only went up 1 or 2 sizes so this seemed really weird to me. Has anyone else done this?

Yes, I'm a 0-2 depending on what store, and they had me order an 8. It's HUGE. Mostly up top though. It def. needs some alterations. I wish I ordered the 6, but they told me 8.

Buttons- that pisses me off! I said that at the store, that I thought it would be huge, but they said it wouldn't be, european sizes are diff, blah blah. I had the dress ordered differently, changed the bottom of the dress, so I'm hoping that it turns out being what I picture in my head. I think I'm starting to have second thoughts...I was in Nicole Miller this weekend, and I was looking at the simple jersey dresses and just started to question myself.

Mrs Simpson...don't second guess yourself. Once your dress comes in you'll fall in love all over again. It might be huge, but whatever. If you really want to stick it to them for ordering you a huge dress, just alter it elsewhere (I'm a big Nilah fan myself). As for the dress itself though...don't worry about it. I think everyone second guesses at one point and then 99% of the time they love it again once they see it.

I had a bad experience there with a BM dress for a wedding I was in.  Didn't even think about looking there for my gown.

Yes, Nilah is going to do wonders with my dress :-). I had second thoughts too, but when it came in I fell in love all over. I forgot what it looked like on.

I got my bm dresses there. My experience was that you need to go when they're not busy (so stay away from Saturday).  They'll spend more time on you.  They were nice to me (but I think it helps that the owner knew me from a previous wedding party that she adored).  They can be short with you though.However...dresses came in on time, and my bm's liked how they let them pay once the alterations were done.I think the alterations were pricy there...although I did negioate the price of the dresses quoting pearl's place (I got a little bit of attitude..but they still agreeded to knock down the price).

ps...dresses came in on time and were the appropriate (sp) sizes.  Although the back of my dress had a ribbon that made the chest adjustable.

I went to Country Bride and Gent in Lansdale and they had a great selection.  They really helped me so much and made it super easy.  When it came time to order a size, they ordered me a 0 (I have no hips and practically no bust...so sad), which is true to my actual size.  I have heard about places that order you a larger dress so that you need more alterations, and I think that is a horrible thing to do.I would go with your gut feeling.  If you feel good about your bridal store then go for it!

La Bella was pretty rude to me when I went in there to try on my dress.. So I jotted down the style number and found it elsewhere and ordered over the phone. I wasnt going to by from someone who was clearly rude and not needing my business. Their loss.

My best friend got her wedding dress there her dress is beautiful but their service is horrible! her alterations were outrageous and she barely needed anything done to it. they fought with her on everything. they got her hair piece and vail wrong! and wouldn't admit that they messed up until she showed them pictures of what she ordered! THEN i had a brides maid dress there and the hemmed it all messed up. right in the very front of my dress a part is over an inch shorter than the rest! i paid 75 dollars for a mess up hem. I don't recomend them at all! save yourself the pain and find somewhere else!
  • I took my bridesmaids there on a Sat and the service was terrible... they let us in to fitting rooms late, didn't help us at all, and then kicked us out early.  Over-crowded and under staffed....
