DISNEY RECEPTION THEME HELP!!!

Ok, so I have this very fun and original Disney themed wedding idea. I want to use a different movie for each table. However, I want to try and not use the characters directly if possible. IE. Winnie the Pooh table....center piece a honey pot with flowers coming out and maybe small jars of honey as favors. Things like that. I want to keep a common element on each table so I am thinking Daisies....which are muture husbands deceased mothers favorite flower. I have the list of movies I want to use but I am having a lot of troble coming up with some ideas. I dont want it to look tacky and I know its a very fine line sometimes. If you have any suggestions let me know. I was doing a lot of the older disney movies and only like 1 or 2 of the new ones. Oh and I HATE hanna montana....to me she isnt Disney. I grew up with like Aladdin and beauty and the beast. Please if u have any ideas feel free to shoot them out no matter the movie as long as its Disney!! Thank you!!Katrina and Tim

Re: DISNEY RECEPTION THEME HELP!!!

  • So you want to have all the tables depict that Disney movie, So they would all be different? Like you like aladin you could do elements like the magic carpet and that thingy the genie comes out of. Beauty and the Beast you could do a tea pot and tea cups.Alice in wonderland with the mat hatters elements, like the crazy hats. The little mermaid. You could do an under the sea table.Toy Story. Could do a table that depicted outerspace with a rocket. Is this where your going? Or am I totally off?
  • I think you are hitting it on the head.  I have a few of those ideas too.  I am having 160 people so 16 or more tables and I wanted a different one for each.  THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
  • I posted a reply in our month/year board. But I love the Beauty and the Beast idea the pp had. Totally forgot about that movie.
  • Peter Pan: you could have shadow box on table casting shadows, bag of pixie dust. Lady and the Tramp: Have a table set with Italian resturant style. Pinocchio-Like a work bench with wooden carved toys. 101 Dalmations. Have black spots all over table with small puppies (stuffed) on table. Jungle Book:Table set with a rainforest theme Sword In the Stone: have a piece of stryofoam shaped like a stone with a sword coming out of it. Maybe watching your favs can tigger some ideas. Hope this will start those creative juices flowing.
  • Tinker bell--fairy theme (something like irredescent wings or maybe just lanterns) and you can tie in peter pan by using a ballerina music box as a center piece.
  • thats fun, here are some things i can think of:Snow white: the apple and stand up a mirrorCinderella: A glass slipperLittle Mermaid: sea shellsBeauty and the beast: tea pot and cup like pp said, or the rose under the dome thingAladdin: magic lampToy Story: any toys really, but cowboy and astronaut stuffMulan: Asian fans and a swordlilo and stitch: hawaiian stuffFinding nemo:  fish bowl or sea stuffCars: toy carsRatatouille: pots and pansUp: balloons....i know it is really new but is honestly one of my favorites, so if you havent seen it you should check it out
  • This lady had some great ideas for Disney themehttp://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1483964Beauty & the beast - was based in france so maybe a bit of a provencale feel to it, red chequered table cloth, wine bottles/grapes, breadsticksLion King - African theme - think mustard yellow colours with deep burgandy reds & bright blue and green101 Dalmations - Dalmation print & red accentsSnow white - enchanted forest, with a bowl of green apples and one red one as a centre pieceCinderella - could you use a wire coach (maybe from a florist suppliers) or a barbie coach as a centre piece or a glass slipper (Think marie antoinette venetian styling- it was a venetian styled ball)
  • We did a disney themed shower for my friend. We themed out her favors like you stated above. Thats just one more idea I dont know if that helps. I can find out where the girls got them if you would like. We also had a disney themed place card tree from the same place. Ill try t get the info. Do you have an email to send it to? Let me know...also you seem really creative. I am having a fall themed wedding but want an elegant feel to it if you have any ideas ill take them as well. talk to you soon.
  • I actually laughed out loud when I saw "(stuffed)"It's kinda sad that people have to be so specific with instructions like that....I really like the idea of provencale for Beauty and the Beast... with a teapot and teacups. But I sort of feel like teacups and teapots might be cute for Alice in Wonderland... I always associated books with Belle, but maybe that's just me, lol.I like pixie dust (well, pixie dust like substance) for Peter Pan...And maybe seaweed and clam shells for The Little Mermaid. (not real seaweed)Definitely Italian bistro-like setting for Lady and the Tramp...

  • What a great theme! I love it.  If you could have music from the Disney movies (Kiss the Girl, A Dream is a Wish, etc.) that would add a lot, especially if you could do it live.  Just take the classy version of everything.  You might be able to find a nice glass slipper figurine to go on your Cinderella table, and you could get a dome shaped vase to go over a rose for the Beauty and the Beast table, maybe surrounded by small old books.  I agree with the other girl who said the teacups reminded her of Alice and Wonderland, and you could get crazy wild prints for the table cloth, or maybe something to do with the Queen of Hearts.  Good luck, I'm sure it will turn out great!
  • Here are some more ideas you may have already thought of:Mary Poppins - Definitely a carpetbag for the centerpiece, maybe with a hat like her's sprouting daisies sitting on top of the bag.  Maybe miniature merry go ride figurines for favors? Or a pretty little bag of sugar and a spoon for favors?Cinderella - I was at JoAnn's yesterday and saw some small plastic "glass" slippers that would be cute for favors.Winnie the Pooh - The knot shop has miniature honey pots for favors.Aladdin - Your ideas are good, just add an Arabian styled table cloth or table runner with gold fringe for the Magic Carpet.Toy Story - You could use those blocks and spell your names on top of each others.Little Mermaid - The centerpiece on this one is hard.  If you could get a giant clam shell and have it propped open with a little pillow inside it could be like Ariel's at the beginning of the movie.  Or maybe you could create a lagoon in the middle of the table with fake plants and a small wooden rowboat.Bug's Life - A big potted plant for the centerpiece with fake bugs everywhere.  Bug spray for favors?Peter Pan - Get a single lantern head for the centerpiece and sprinkle gold glitter everywhere.  Or you could buy a Peter Pan hat from a costume shop and put it in the middle on top of a wooden stump for the Lost Boys' tree house.Lion King - Would only require African looking things, Hobby Lobby has a lot of great animal printed vases right now.Sword in the Stone - Make a rock out of clay and paint it, then cut off half of a toy sword and stick it into the 'rock' for a centerpiece.Finding Nemo - Fake coral centerpiece, blue tablecloth and gummy fish in clear bags for favors.Lilo and Stitch - Elvis centerpiece, everything else could be tropical and Hawaiian.  Leis as favors.
