Charge for longer linens?

Our venus charges like $9 a table for longer linens. Do you think it looks cheesy without them? (FI is totally against it, says no one will notice) TIA!

Re: Charge for longer linens?

  • Most venues do charge for the extra long lengths. I think it would be fine without the longer tableclothes. You might add some additonal money for a topper in a contrasting color. Otherwise, use the linens provided and use your centerpieces as the accent of another color or combination there of. Candles or flowers... even different color napkins will accent whatever you are using. No one looks at the length of the tablecloth. No tablecloth... now that's another story. :) Don't worry it will be just fine.

  • When you mean topper, do you mean an overlay? We are doing moroccan lantern with mirrors, accented by peacock feathers.
  • The linens that go all the way to the floor?  FI used to work banquets at a big hotel, and he HATED those things.  They'd get caught under chairs and tugged all over the place, so the tables always ended up looking messy.  You're better off without them.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • Yeah, the venue is trying to push floor-length linens....
  • Probably not the answer you want, but I think it looks "cheap" when the linens don't go to the floor. That was one of the first questions I asked of sites when I was looking around (if they had floor length regularly available or if I'd have to pay extra for them since I knew I was going to have them one way or another). This "people" would definitely notice.
  • Sorry, yes the overlays are also called toppers. As I read your post again, I also thought about to save some money... you could always use your colored napkin in the center opened up flat, then put your centerpieces in the middle. Just depends on how much you want to invest.

  • Our centerpieces have peacock feathers/mirror underneath them, so we can't do the napkin thing too... I'm all for longer linens, he thinks it's a waste of money.
