photobook or flipbook booth

Hey all, I'm wondering which of the following two you think would be more fun at a wedding (for you as a guest): - a photobooth--the standard kind, prints out strips of pictures; they wouldn't be personalized or anything, and it would be run by someone, not a DIY photobooth. Not sure how many photostrips each person would be able to do. -a flipbook station--flipbooks are those little books that have a different picture on each page and when you flip the pages, it looks like the pictures are moving. Each person would probably only be able to do one. I was at first leaning toward the flipbook station but I"m not sure if it's too "out there" or silly for the older guests--or would they likely not do a photobooth either? TIA for any opinons/suggestions :)

Re: photobook or flipbook booth

  • We're doing a photo booth thing for our guestbook.  We're basically getting a scrap book and then asking each family to take at least one strip.  Each family's going to have a page that they can paste the strip into and decorate/write a message on.  Then all the pages will be inserted into the guest book as a more fun way to remember all our guests at the wedding.  I've never heard about the flip book station, and I kind of don't get how that would work.  It sounds cool though.  Good luck.

  • I guess I didn't explain the flipbook station very well. Basically they would stand in front of a screen and do something--dance, make funny faces, twirl around, whatever--for about a minute while they are videoed. The video is then transferred to a little flipbook, which the person can pick up an hour or so later and take home with them. I thought it would be a cool idea for both entertainment and a favor.

  • How shy is your crowd? I woudl think the shy folks would not be ok with doing the flip book thing. How crass is your crowd.? DH has some friends that might try and do inappropriatethings to have well borderline X rated flip books
  • I like the flipbook idea because it's different but the photo booth is more practical IMO. With the flip book I could see it being fun making the video and then when you get the book it would be cute to flip through it, but that would probably be the last time I'd ever flip through it. At least with the photobooth people can frame the picture and put it on display, and most companies print a duplicate for the B&G to keep so you would have all of the pics too. With the flipbook would you get or even want duplicates of all of them?
  • I was in a wedding last year that did the flip books. They were the hit of the party! She had old men dressed up in boas dancing in front of the camera. Everyone thought they were so fun and different! I'm sure your guests will have fun with either option though.
