Do I need more than flip flops?????

I've been considering doing flip flops as my reception gift as I'm always the one that wants to go home because my feet hurt.  If I do flip flops, do I also need to do something else?

Re: Do I need more than flip flops?????

  • You mean as a favor for your guests? Favors are not required, so anything you choose to offer is MORE than enough. However, just remember that it'll likely be women taking the flip flops, so that leaves the men with nothing. Plus, brand-new flip flops tend to hurt and blister the first time you wear them. In my opinion, if you really want to offer a favor, I would do something like a cookie or a small bag of candy. But again, since they're not required, the flip flops are plenty. You're already feeding and entertaining people, so you don't need to send them home with a little trinket, too.

  • Does reception gift mean favor?  I personally can't imagine your guests all wanting a random pair of flip flops to wear.Personally, I wear flip flops a lot in the summer.  But I can't wear the cheap ones, so I wouldn't even take a pair of $2 flip flops from Michael's or Old Navy.  And I never wear flip flops with dressy dresses.  And how do you get sizes? One of my DD's wear a size 5.5 shoes.  The other wears a size 8.5.  If this is a favor, rather than a basket of various sizes that people can take if they choose, you need to plan on sizes. As for the men attending, my DH wouldn't ever change out of shoes and socks into flip flops when he has a suit on.  As an adult, I'm responsible for my own footwear.  Buy yourself comfortable footwear for your wedding, and consider giving your guests something more "universal"~edible favors seem to be the most popular.
"Trix, it's what they/our parents wanted. Why so judgemental? And why is your wedding date over a year and a half ago? And why do you not have a groom's name? And why have you posted over 12,000 posts? And why do you always say mean things to brides?" palegirl146
  • Favors are never required.  You should learn to buy comfy shoes and try the gel insoles.
  • If my feet hurt, I just take my shoes off...I know at a wedding I'll be on my feet dancing so I'll wear semi-comfy shoes (still gotta look cute!) If my feet hurt, it's my own fault.

  • I was thinking several buckets in a variety of sizes for both men and women but this is making me rethink that all together.  I don't think I've ever been to a weeding where there wasn't some sort of favor so I need to do something and I thought I was being clever here but maybe not.
  • We did flip flops. They were hugely popular with the women. I didn't do favors either.
  • I've never been to a wedding where everyone hasn't thrown away the favors anyway. I would try something edible. That was its not a total waste of money.
  • The one non-food favor that seems to go over well: scratch-off lottery tickets.  My sister did them for her wedding (along with a penny to scratch), and they were a hit.  As far as I know, you do have to be careful to only give them to the guests over 18.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I am having bins with various size flip flops with  a note that says " for tired feet".  This isnt my favor just a little something extra for the ladies.  Old Navy has them right now for 99 cents a pair.  You can also check online and order in bulk depending on how many pair you need.
  • We are doing a combination of flip flops and cotton Mary Janes.  That way, those that don't like flip flops, or are wearing hose, will also have an option. However, neither flip flops nor favors are required.
  • I am getting married in Hawaii and will also be having a basket of Flip Flops both male and female, and I am also having a basket of flowers for the ladies hair and a basket of pashminas! I think Flip Flops are a great fun idea! And if you want them to look classier then buy organza bags and ribbon to dress them up a bit! No matter if everyone wears them or not it makes a wedding less stuffy and more fun! Encourage dancing it is the best part of a wedding for the guests!
