what wine did you serve at you wedding? i was thinking maybe sangria..does anyone have ideas? thanks!

We are serving sangria during our cocktail hour. Since we are having an open bar there will be several wines, alcohols, and spirits.

We didn't have a lot of "winos" with sophisticated wine preferences, so we had mostly white zinfandel, then a few bottles of chardonnay, pinot grigio, shiraz, merlot, and cabernet sauvingnon. Mostly they drank the white zin, and the chardonnay. We had tons left over.

I did a merlot and a chardonnay. Black Box brand. No wine snobs at my party - so I went pretty basic with just a white and a red.

Well, I am a wine snob of sorts (I work in the business).  I didn't want to do a chardonnay and cab at first because I think there are so many more interesting varietals.  However, with the food that we're serving for dinner, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon compliment them very well.  We're serving Sterling cab & chard during dinner and we will have Castle Rock cab & chard at the bar because it's a slightly different style of cab and chard.I think that sangria is fine, just as long as it fits with the formality of the wedding.  We're having a ballroom wedding with a five course meal plus a plated cake, so sangria would look out of place.  If your wedding is a little more intimate and casual, I think sangria would be really fun.  Maybe you could do a red and a white since not everyone likes red wine.
