what did you do?

what wine did you serve at you wedding? i was thinking maybe sangria..does anyone have ideas? thanks!

Re: what did you do?

  • We are serving sangria during our cocktail hour. Since we are having an open bar there will be several wines, alcohols, and spirits.
  • We didn't have a lot of "winos" with sophisticated wine preferences, so we had mostly white zinfandel, then a few bottles of chardonnay, pinot grigio, shiraz, merlot, and cabernet sauvingnon. Mostly they drank the white zin, and the chardonnay. We had tons left over.
  • I did a merlot and a chardonnay. Black Box brand. No wine snobs at my party - so I went pretty basic with just a white and a red.

  • Well, I am a wine snob of sorts (I work in the business).  I didn't want to do a chardonnay and cab at first because I think there are so many more interesting varietals.  However, with the food that we're serving for dinner, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon compliment them very well.  We're serving Sterling cab & chard during dinner and we will have Castle Rock cab & chard at the bar because it's a slightly different style of cab and chard.I think that sangria is fine, just as long as it fits with the formality of the wedding.  We're having a ballroom wedding with a five course meal plus a plated cake, so sangria would look out of place.  If your wedding is a little more intimate and casual, I think sangria would be really fun.  Maybe you could do a red and a white since not everyone likes red wine.
