POLL: Father/Daughter Dance

Hi Ladies! What is everyone dancing to for the father/daughter dance? I have a few in mind but nothing has totally jumped out at me yet.  My dad and I are very close, but we DEFINITELY don't want something corny like Butterfly Kisses (so sorry to offend anyone who chose that song).TIA!

Re: POLL: Father/Daughter Dance

  • Hi! I've been searching and have found a few possible ones. Here are a few I like and hope it'll be a help to you. :-) Kenny Rogers – Through the Years Van Morrison – Have I Told You Lately? Amy Grant – Fathers Eyes Beatles – In My Life Temptations - My Girl Have you checked your library yet? There is supposed to be a big book that has some 20 pages of songs all done in different categories. I THINK it's the Ultimate Wedding Guide (or something like that)
  • My dad and I are dancing to Forever Young by Bob Dylan.  I wanted to let him choose the song, but I suggested this one just to put him on the right track for what I was going for (aka, NOT butterfly kisses!  lol sorry).  He thought about it for a few days but decided Forever Young was perfect, he loves Bob Dylan anyway.  I think he liked that I let him have the final say, so I'd suggest a few and see if your dad has any of his own ideas.
  • My dad and I will dance to "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts...kinda sappy but I love it and he's such a country guy! FI's not doing a mother/son dance though.
  • I Hope You Dance by Leann Womak

  • "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra...I wanted to do "Father & Daughter" by Paul Simon because it's upbeat and cute, but I guess my dad has something against Paul Simon or something.

  • I danced to Unforgettable with my dad. He did a great job even though we didn't get to practice.  I'll Be There, I think would be another good option. I recently heard a song that would be great for a father-daughter dance. It's by the Christian singer, Steven Curtis Chapman, called Cinderella. (but if you don't like Butterfly Kisses, you might not like this one!)  Here are the lyrics:She spins and she swaysTo whatever song playsWithout a care in the worldAnd I'm sitting here wearingThe weight of the world on my shouldersIt's been a long dayAnd there's still work to doShe's pulling at meSaying "Dad, I need youThere's a ball at the castleAnd I've been invitedAnd I need to practice my dancingOh, please, Daddy, please?"So I will dance with CinderellaWhile she is here in my arms'Cause I know something the prince never knewOh, I will dance with CinderellaI don't want to miss even one song'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnightAnd she'll be gone...She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressedShe wants to know if I approve of the dressShe says, "Dad, the prom is just one week awayAnd I need to practice my dancingOh, please, Daddy, please?"So I will dance with CinderellaWhile she is here in my arms'Cause I know something the prince never knewOh, I will dance with CinderellaI don't want to miss even one song'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnightAnd she'll be goneShe will be goneWell, she came home today with a ring on her handJust glowing and telling us all they had plannedShe says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months awayBut I need to practice my dancingOh, please, Daddy, please?"So I will dance with CinderellaWhile she is here in my arms'Cause I know something the prince never knewOh, I will dance with CinderellaI don't want to miss even one song'Cause all too soon the clock will strike midnightAnd she'll be gone
  • My dad and I are not into the super mushy stuff, so right now our plan is to start out with the first few bars of something slow (probably "I Loved Her First" by Heartland), and then that's gonna come to a screeching halt, and we're gonna dance to "The Twist" by Chubby Checker!
